It was not for a play that We created the heavens the earth and all that lies between them.

We have created them to reveal the truth, but most of them do not understand.
44:40
Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them,
44:41
On that Day no one shall be able to protect his friend, nor shall they receive any help
44:42
except those to whom Allah will show His Mercy: for it is He Who is the All-Mighty, the All Merciful.
44:43
Indeed, the tree of zaqqum
Meaning:-
Zaqqum (Arabic): is a tree that “springs out of the bottom of hell-fire” or Jahannam.
44:44
Will be the food of the sinners,
44:45
Like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies,
44:46
Like the boiling of hot water.
44:47
A voice will be heard: “Seize him and drag him into the depth of the hell,
44:48
“Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,
44:49
then the voice will say: “Taste it; you were such a powerful noble!
44:50
This is the punishment which you use to doubt.”
44:51
Surely those who guard (against evil) are in a secure place,
44:52
Within gardens and springs,
44:53
Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.
Meaning:-
Brocade: usually silk, a rich silk fabric with raised patterns in gold and silver.
44:54
Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
44:55
They will call therein for every [kind of] fruit – safe and secure.
44:56
They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He will have protected them from the punishment of Hellfire
44:57
A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement.
44:58
Certainly, We have made this (Quran) easy in your language, in order that they may remember.
44:59
So watch, [O Muhammad]; indeed, they are watching [for your end].
43:1
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
43:2
By the Glorious Book.
43:3
We have revealed this Qur’an in the Arabic language so that you may understand its meanings.
43:4
And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom.
Meaning:-
Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz: Click Here
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
43:5
Should We take this Reminder (this Quran) away from you and ignore you because you are a nation who has transgressed all limits?
Meaning:-
Transgress: to violate a law, command, offend; sin.
43:6
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
43:7
Never did it happen that a Prophet came to his people and they did not mock at him.
Meaning:-
Mock: to laugh at someone, often by copying them in a funny but unkind way, make fun of
43:8
So We destroyed them, though they were stronger in power than these people, and provided an example in the case of prior people.
43:9
If you ask them: “Who has created the heavens and the earth?” They will surely say: “They have been created by the All-Mighty, the All-Knowledgeable.”
43:10
Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way,
43:11
The One Who sends down rain from the sky in due measure and thereby resurrects a dead land – that’s how you shall be brought forth (raised to life again).
Meaning:-
Resurrects: bring back to life, bring to life again.
43:12
The One Who has created all living things in pairs and made for you the ships and cattle on which you ride
43:13
so that you may firmly sit on their backs, then as you mount, recall the goodness of your Lord and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected these to Our use, otherwise We could not have brought them under our control,
43:14
and to our Lord we shall all return.”
43:15
Yet inspite of recognizing all this, they have made some of His servants to be a part of Him! Surely mankind is clearly ungrateful.
43:16
Would Allah choose daughters (pagan Arabs believed that angels were the daughters of Allah) for Himself out of what He Himself creates and gives you sons?
Meaning:-
Pagan: belonging or relating to a religion that worships many gods.
43:17
Yet when a new born-girl – the gender that they ascribe to the Compassionate – is announced to one of them, his face darkens and he is filled with grief.
Meaning:-
Ascribe: attribute to.
grieve:mourn, sorrow, distress, pain, hurt.
43:18
(Do they then like for Allah) a creature who is brought up in adornments (wearing silk and gold ornaments, i.e. women), and in dispute cannot make herself clear?
Meaning:-
Adornment: something that adds attractiveness; ornament; accessory.
43:19
And they have made the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
43:20
And they said: “If it had been the Will of the Most Beneficent (Allah), we should not have worshipped them (false deities).” They have no knowledge whatsoever of that. They do nothing but lie!
Meaning:-
Deities: Fake Gods, God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess.
43:21
Or have We given them any Book before this (the Quran), to which they are holding fast?
43:22
Rather, they say, “Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided.”
43:23
Even so, whenever We sent a Warner before you to forewarn a nation, its affluent people said: “We found our forefathers practicing this faith and surely we are going to follow their footsteps.”
Meaning:-
Affluent: wealthy, rich, prosperous, well off.
43:24
Each Warner asked: “What if I bring you better guidance than that which your forefathers practiced?” But they replied: “Well! We reject the faith with which you have been sent.”
43:25
So we took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the rejecters.
Meaning:-
Retribution: punishment especially in the hereafter
43:26
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, “Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship,
43:27
except Him Who created me, for He will surely guide me.”
43:28
And he made it a word to continue in his posterity that they may return.
Meaning:-
Posterity: all future generations of people.
43:29
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth (the Quran) and a clear Messenger.
43:30
But now when the truth (this Quran) has came to them, they say: “This is magic and we do not believe it.”
43:31
They also say: “Why is this Qur’an not revealed to a man of great importance in the two towns (Makkah and Ta’if)”?
43:32
Is it they who distribute the blessings of your Lord? It is We Who distribute the means of their livelihood in the life of this world, raising some in rank above others, so that one may take others into his service. But the blessing of your Lord is far greater in value than the wealth of this world which they amass.
Meaning:-
Amass: gather, collect, accumulate
43:33
And were it not that all mankind might become one nation of unbelievers, We would have given those who disbelieve in the Compassionate (Allah), such houses whose roofs, stairways by which they go to upper chambers all made with silver,
43:34
And for their houses – doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
Meaning:-
Recline: lean or lie back in a relaxed position with the back supported.
43:35
along with ornaments of gold – for all these are nothing but merely comforts of this worldly life. It is the life of the hereafter which your Lord has reserved for the righteous.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous.
43:36
And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan – devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him.
Meaning:-
Qarin (Arabic): Qarin literally means ‘constant companion’. A qareen pushes a person to do evil things and to disobey Allah.
Intimate: faithful, close, dear.
43:37
– and turns such people away from the Right Path, while they think that they are guided aright.
43:38
– Ultimately, when that person will come to Us on the Day of Judgement, he will say to his shaitan companion: “I wish that I was far apart from you as the east is from the west: you turned out to be an evil companion.”
43:39
Then it will be said to them: “Well, you have already done wrong, realizing this fact today will avail you nothing, as you both are partners in the same punishment.
43:40
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
43:41
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
Meaning:-
Retribution: punishment especially in the hereafter
43:42
or let you see their end, which We have promised them: surely We have full power over them.
43:43
Therefore, hold fast to this Qur’an which is reveled to you, surely you are on the Right Way.
43:44
In fact this Qur’an is a reminder for you and your people; and you shall soon be questioned about it.
43:45
Ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you if We ever appointed other gods to be worshipped besides the Compassionate Allah?
43:46
We sent Musa with Our signs to Fir’on and his chiefs. He said to them: “I am a messenger of the Lord of the worlds.”
43:47
When he showed them Our signs, they laughed at those signs.
43:48
We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us).
43:49
And they said: O magician! call on your Lord for our sake, as He has made the covenant with you; we shall surely be the followers of the right way.
Meaning:-
Covenant: an agreements between God and his people
43:50
But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.
43:51
One day Fir’on (Pharaoh) made a proclamation among his people: “O my people! Is not the kingdom of Egypt mine? Are not these rivers flowing underneath me? Can you not see?
43:52
Or am I [not] better than this one (Moses) who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?
Meaning:-
Insignificant: too small or unimportant to be worth consideration.
43:53
“Why then are not golden bracelets bestowed on him, or angels sent along with him?”
43:54
So he [Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allah ].
Meaning:-
Bluff: try to deceive someone as to one’s abilities or intentions.
43:55
So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all.
43:56
and made them a lesson and an example for the later generations.
43:57
And when the son (Jesus) of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
43:58
And say: “Are our aliha (gods) better or is he [‘Iesa (Jesus)]?” They quoted not the above example except for argument. Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people.
43:59
He [‘Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a servant. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father).
43:60
And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth.
43:61
And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour (Day of Resurrection), so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
43:62
Let not shaitan mislead you, for he is your open enemy.
43:63
When Isa (Jesus) came with clear signs, he stated: “I have brought you wisdom, and to clarify some of those things about which you have disputes: so fear Allah and obey me.
43:64
Surely it is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the Right Way.”
43:65
But the sects from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
43:66
Are they waiting for the Hour of Doom that it should come on them all of a sudden, without warning?
Meaning:-
Doom: death, destruction, or some other terrible fate.
43:67
On that Day, even friends will become enemies to one another with the exception of the righteous people.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
43:68
(It will be said to the true believers of Islamic Monotheism): My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve,
Meaning:-
Monotheism: the doctrine or belief that there is only one God.
43:69
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
43:70
Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness.
43:71
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
Meaning:-
Abide: to remain; continue; stay:
Eternally: permanent, everlasting, timeless, never-ending, nonstop.
43:72
This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world).
43:73
Therein for you will be fruits in plenty, of which you will eat (as you desire).
43:74
But the criminals will abide in the punishment of hell.
Meaning:-
Abide: to remain; continue; stay:
43:75
Their punishment will never be lightened, and they shall remain despair therein.
Meaning:-
Despair: the complete loss or absence of hope.
43:76
We did not wrong them, but it is they who wronged themselves.
43:77
They will cry: “O Malik (the keeper of hell)! Let your Lord put and end to us.” But he will answer: “Nay! You are going to live forever.”
43:78
We have brought you the truth, but most of you hate the truth.
43:79
If they have devised a plan to ruin you (O Muhammad), then surely We too shall devise a plan to ruin them.
Meaning:-
Devise: to invent a plan.
43:80
Do they think that We cannot hear their secret talks and their private converse? Of course We do, and Our messengers (angels) who are assigned to them, record it all.
43:81
Say, [O Muhammad], “If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers.”
43:82
Glory to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of power, from what they describe.
43:83
So leave them (alone) to speak nonsense and play until they meet the Day of theirs, which they have been promised.
43:84
It is He (Allah) Who is God in the heavens and God on earth; He is the All-Wise, the All-Knowledgeable.
43:85
And blessed be He to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, and with Whom is the knowledge of the Hour, and to Whom you (all) will be returned.
43:86
And those whom they call upon besides Him have no authority for intercession, but he who bears witness of the truth and they know (him).
Meaning:-
Intercession: a prayer to God on behalf of another.
43:87
And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: “Allah”. How then are they turned away (from the worship of Allah, Who created them)?
43:88
Allah has heard the Prophet’s cry: “O Lord! Surely these are a people who would not believe.”
43:89
Therefore, O Prophet! Bear with them and wish them peace. They shall soon come to know the truth.
42:1
Ha, Mim (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet, and only Allah knows their meaning here).
42:2
‘Ain-Sin-Qaf. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
42:3
Thus, Allah All-Mighty, the All-Wise sends His revelation to you, O Muhammad, as He sent to other messengers before you.
42:4
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. He is the Supreme, the Great.
42:5
The heavens might have almost broken apart from above those who are elevating Allah’s creatures to His rank, if the angels would have not been glorifying their Lord with His praise and begging forgiveness for those on earth. Behold! Surely it is Allah Who is the oft-Forgiving, most Merciful.
Meaning:-
Elevate: raise or lift up to a higher position.
42:6
Those who take others as their guardians besides Him, Allah Himself is watching them; and O Prophet, you have not charge over them.
42:7
Thus have We revealed to you this Qur’an in Arabic, so that you may warn the residents of the Mother City (Makkah) and its suburbs, and forewarn them of the Day of assembly about which there is no doubt: when some will go to paradise and others to the blazing fire.
Meaning:-
Blazing: burn fiercely or brightly.
42:8
And if Allah willed, He could have made them [of] one religion, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. And the wrongdoers have not any protector or helper.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
42:9
Or have they taken guardians besides Him? But Allah is the Guardian, and He gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.
42:10
O Prophet tell them: Whatever the subject of your dispute is, its judgement belongs to Allah: Such is Allah my Lord, in Him I have put my trust, and to Him I turn in repentance.
Meaning:-
Repentance: regret, shame, guilt
42:11
The Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you mates from among yourselves and also mates among the cattle from their own kind; by this means does He multiply you. There is no one like Him. He Alone hears all and sees all.
Meaning:-
Mates: husband, wife, life partner, each of a pair of birds or other animals.
42:12
To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing.
Meaning:-
Provision:the providing or supplying of something, especially of food or other necessities.
42:13
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].
Meaning:-
Ordain: order, command, establish.
42:14
The people did not become divided into sects until after knowledge had come to them – out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And those who were made to inherit the Scripture after them are verily in hopeless doubt concerning it.
Meaning:-
animosity: bitterness, dislike, hate
Precede: to go before, as in place, order, rank, importance, or time.
42:15
So to that [religion of Allah ] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, “I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur’an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination.”
Meaning:-
Inclinations: An inclination is something you are leaning toward, such as a behavior or a habit
42:16
And those who argue concerning Allah after He has been responded to – their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.
Meaning:-
Wrath: extreme anger
42:17
It is Allah Who has revealed this Book (Al-Qur’an) with the truth, and the Balance (to distinguish between right and wrong). What will make you realize that perhaps the hour of doom may be fast approaching.
Meaning:-
Doom: death, destruction, or some other terrible fate.
42:18
Only those who deny it seek to hasten it on; but the believers dread its coming and know that its coming is the truth. Behold! Those who dispute concerning the hour of doom are far astray.
Meaning:-
Dread to feel anxious or worried about something that is going to happen or may happen, extreme fear, to feel extremely worried or frightened about something that is going to happen or that might happen.
Doom: death, destruction, or some other terrible fate.
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
42:19
Allah is very Kind to His servants. He gives sustenance to whom He pleases. He is the Powerful, the Almighty.”
Meaning:-
Sustenance: food and drink regarded as a source of strength; nourishment.
42:20
Whoever desires the gain of the hereafter, We will give him more of that gain; and whoever desires the gain of this world, We give him of it, and in the hereafter he has no portion.
Meaning:-
Gain: profit, benefit, reward
42:21
Have they made shoraka’ (partners with Allah) who, in the practice of their faith, have made lawful to them what Allah has not allowed? Had a decision of making the decision on the Day of Judgement not been issued already, the matter would have certainly been decided between them; surely the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.
Meaning:-
shoraka‘ : the deities you worship besides Allah (deity means: god or goddess, Fake God.)
Wrongdoer: criminal, a person who behaves illegally, or dishonestly; an offender.
42:22
You will see that the wrongdoers will be fearing the bad consequences of their deeds which will surely befall them. While those who believe and do good deeds shall dwell in the luxurious gardens of paradise, and shall receive from their Lord all that they wish for; that will surely be the magnificent blessing.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: criminal, a person who behaves illegally, or dishonestly; an offender.
Befall: occur, take place, happen to, overtake,
Dwell: to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside.
42:23
That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say [O Muhammad]: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.
42:24
Or say they: “He has invented a lie against Allah?” If Allah willed, He could have sealed your heart (so that you forget all that you know of the Quran). And Allah wipes out falsehood, and establishes the truth (Islam) by His Word (this Qur’an). Verily, He knows well what (the secrets) are in the breasts (of mankind).
42:25
And He it is Who accepts repentance from His slaves, and forgives sins, and He knows what you do.
42:26
And He answers those who believe and do good deeds, and gives them more out of His grace; and (as for) the unbelievers, they shall have a severe punishment.
42:27
If Allah were to enlarge the provision for His Servants, they would indeed transgress beyond all bounds through the earth; but he sends (it) down in due measure as He pleases. For He is with His Servants Well-acquainted, Watchful.
Meaning:-
Provision:the providing or supplying of something, especially of food or other necessities.
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
42:28
It is He Who sends down rain even after they have lost all hope, and spreads His Mercy. He Alone is the Praiseworthy Guardian.
42:29
Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has spread in both of them: and He is capable of gathering them all together whenever He wants.
42:30
Whatever affliction befalls you is the result of what your own hands have done even though for many of your misdeeds He grants forgiveness.
Meaning:-
Afflict: (of a problem or illness) cause pain or suffering to; affect or trouble.
Befall: occur, take place, happen to, overtake,
42:31
And you will not cause failure [to Allah ] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper.
42:32
Among His signs are the ships which look like mountains upon the ocean.
42:33
If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
42:34
– Or He may cause them to drown in consequence of even a few of their misdeeds, though He forgives many of their misdeeds.
42:35
And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape.
42:36
So whatever thing you have been given – it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely
Meaning:-
Rely: depend on with full trust or confidence.
42:37
And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive,
Meaning:-
Immoralities: sexual misconduct, immoral quality, character, or conduct; wickedness; evilness.
42:38
And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them.
42:39
And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves,
42:40
And the recompense of evil is punishment like it, but whoever forgives and amends, he shall have his reward from Allah; surely He does not love the unjust.
Meaning:-
Amends: to do something good to show that you are sorry about something you have done
42:41
Those who avenge themselves when wronged cannot be blamed.
Meaning:-
Avenge: to harm or punish
42:42
The blameworthy are those who oppress their fellow men and conduct themselves with wickedness and injustice in the land. It is they who will have painful punishment.
Meaning:-
Oppress: abuse, to burden with cruel or unjust impositions
Wickedness: the quality of being evil or morally wrong.
42:43
And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah.
42:44
And whomsoever Allah makes err, he has no guardian after Him; and you shall see the unjust, when they see the punishment, saying: Is there any way to return?
42:45
And you will see them brought forward to it (Hell) made humble by disgrace , (and) looking with stealthy glance. And those who believe will say: “Verily, the losers are they who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Verily, the Zalimun [i.e. Al-Kafirun (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness and in His Messenger SAW , polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.)] will be in a lasting punishment.
Meaning:-
Disgrace: shameful, dishonorable, degrade, reproach.
Stealthy: secretive, sneaking, covert.
Polytheist: belief in more than one god or in many gods.
wrong-doers: criminal, a person who behaves illegally, or dishonestly; an offender.
42:46
And they shall have no friends to help them besides Allah; and– whomsoever Allah makes err, he shall have no way.
42:47
Respond to your Lord, even before there comes up a Day that has no turning back from Allah; in no way can you have any shelter upon that Day, and in no way can you have any disclaiming.
42:48
But if they turn away – then We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification (the message). And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.
Meaning:-
Rejoice: feel or show great joy or delight.
Afflict: (of a problem or illness) cause pain or suffering to; affect or trouble.
42:49
To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He pleases. He gives daughters to whom He pleases and gives sons to whom He pleases.
42:50
To some He gives both sons and daughters, and makes barren whom He will; surely He is All-knowledgeable, All-Powerful.
Meaning:-
Barren: not able to produce children or offspring.
42:51
It is not vouchsafed to any human being that Allah should speak to him face to face, He speaks either through inspiration, or from behind a veil, or through sending a messenger (angel Gabriel) authorized by Him to reveal His will; surely He is most High, most Wise.
Meaning:-
Vouchsafed: to grant or give, as by favor, graciousness, or condescension:
Veil: a piece of fine material worn by women to protect or conceal the face.
42:52
Thus, have We revealed to you O Muhammad, a Spirit (inspired Book – The Qur’an) by Our command: while you did not know what is The Book and what is the Iman (faith)? But We have made it (The Qur’an) a light whereby We guide those of Our servants whom We please; and surely you are guiding mankind to the Right Way
42:53
The Path of Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. Verily, all the matters at the end go to Allah (for decision).
41:1
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]
41:2
[This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful –
41:3
A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know.
41:4
As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear.
Meaning:-
Tidings: news; information.
41:5
They say: “Our hearts are concealed in veils from the faith to which you call us, there is deafness in ours ears and there is a barrier between you and us: so you work your way and we keep on working our way.”
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
Veils: a piece of thin material worn by women to cover the face or head
barrier: block, obstacle, boundary of any kind.
41:6
O Prophet say: “I am but a man like yourselves. It is revealed to me that your God is One God, therefore take the Right Way towards Him and implore His forgiveness. Woe to the mushrikin (those who associate other gods with Allah);
Meaning:-
Implore: to ask or beg for (something) in a very serious or emotional way
Mushrikin (Arabic): A polytheist:; literally, “one who falsely associates (something) with God. {Polytheist: means: belief in more than one god or in many gods.]
41:7
Those who do not give zakah (Charity), and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers.
41:8
As for those who believe and do good deeds, they will have a never ending reward.
41:9
Say (O Muhammad): “Do you verily disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days and you set up rivals (in worship) with Him? That is the Lord of the worlds.”
41:10
And He placed on the earth firmly set mountains over its surface, and He blessed it and determined therein its [creatures’] sustenance in four days without distinction – for [the information] of those who ask.
Meaning:-
Sustenance: food and drink regarded as a source of strength; nourishment.
41:11
Then He turned towards the sky, which was but smoke, He said to it and to the earth: ‘Come forward both of you, willingly or unwillingly,’ and they submitted: ‘We shall come willing’.
41:12
So, from this creation, He formed the seven heavens in two periods and to each heaven He ordained its laws. He adorned the lowest heaven with brilliant lamps and made it secure. Such is the design of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.”
Meaning:-
Ordain: order, command, establish.
Adorn: make more beautiful or attractive.
41:13
Now if they turn away, say to them: “I have given you warning of a thunderbolt, like the thunderbolt which struck Ad and Thamud.”
strongMeaning:-
Thunderbolt: a flash of lightning with a simultaneous crash of thunder.
41:14
When their messengers came to them from before and from behind, saying: “Worship none but Allah.” They replied: “If our Lord wanted to send us a message, He would certainly have sent down angels, so we categorically deny the message with which you are sent.”
41:15
Now the ‘Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: “Who is superior to us in strength?” What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs!
Meaning:-
Arrogantly: proud in an unpleasant way and behaving as if you are better or more important than other people.
41:16
So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
Meaning:-
Disgrace: loss of reputation or respect, especially as the result of a dishonorable action. dishonor, shame, disrespect; degrade.
41:17
As for Thamud, We offer them Our guidance, but they preferred to remain blind rather than to receive guidance towards the Right Way; so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for their misdeeds,
Meaning:-
Thunderbolt: a flash of lightning with a simultaneous crash of thunder.
41:18
And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah, keep their duty to Him and avoid evil.
41:19
And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire while they are [driven] assembled in rows,
41:20
Finally when they reach there, their ears, their eyes, and their skins will testify to their misdeeds.
41:21
And they will say to their skins, “Why have you testified against us?” They will say, “We were made to speak by Allah , who has made everything speak; and He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.
41:22
During your life on earth you use to hide yourselves while committing crimes, you never thought that your own ears, your own eyes and your own skins would ever testify against you. Rather you thought that even Allah had no knowledge of many things that you do.
41:23
This thought of yours, which you entertained concerning your Lord, has brought you to destruction and now you have become of those who are utterly lost.”
Meaning:-
Destruction: the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.
41:24
Then, if they have patience, yet the Fire will be a home for them, and if they beg for to be excused, yet they are not of those who will ever be excused.
41:25
And We appointed for them companions who made attractive to them what was before them and what was behind them [of sin], and the word has come into effect upon them among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.
41:26
And those who disbelieve say, “Do not listen to this Qur’an and speak noisily during [the recitation of] it that perhaps you will overcome.”
41:27
But We will surely cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe punishment, and We will surely recompense them for the worst of what they had been doing.
Meaning:-
Recompense: to repay; remunerate; reward.
41:28
hell that is, the reward for such enemies of Allah, which will be their eternal home: a reward for their denying Our revelations.
Meaning:-
Eternal: permanent, everlasting, timeless, never-ending, nonstop.
41:29
Wherein, the disbelievers will say: “Our Lord! Show us those among jinns and mankind who misled us: we shall trample them under our feet so that they become utterly disgraced.”
Meaning:-
Trample: to step heavily on someone, causing damage, crush, walk over or injury
Disgrace: loss of reputation or respect, especially as the result of a dishonorable action. dishonor, shame, disrespect; degrade.
41:30
As for those who say: “Our God is Allah,” and then stay firm on it, the angels will descend on them, saying: “Let nothing fear or grieve you. Rejoice for the good news of paradise that has been promised to you.
Meaning:-
Rejoice: feel or show great joy or delight.
41:31
We are your protectors in this life and in the hereafter. There you shall find all that your souls desire and all that you can ask for:
41:32
A hospitable gift from (Allah), the All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.”
Meaning:-
Hospitable: generous, friendly, accommodating,
41:33
Who is better in speech than the one who calls people towards Allah, does good deeds and says: “I am a Muslim?”
41:34
Good deeds are not equal to the evil ones. Repel other’s evil deeds with your good deeds. You will see that he with whom you had enmity, will become your close friend.
Meaning:-
Repel: to refuse to accept or admit; reject
Enmity: a feeling of hate, bitterness.
41:35
And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- none but persons of the greatest good fortune.
41:36
If any time you are tempted by Shaitan, seek refuge with Allah. It is He Who hears all and knows all.
41:37
Among His signs are the night and the day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate yourselves before the sun or the moon; rather prostrate yourselves before Allah, Who created them both, if you truly are His worshippers.
Meaning:-
Prostrate: lying stretched out on the ground with one’s face downward, especially in reverence or submission.
41:38
But if they are too proud (to do so), then there are those who are with your Lord (angels) glorify Him night and day, and never are they tired.
41:39
And among His Signs (in this), that you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) to it, it is stirred to life and growth (of vegetations). Verily, He Who gives it life, surely, (He) is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of Resurrection). Indeed! He is Able to do all things.
Meaning:-
Barren: unproductive, infertile, unfruitful, unable to produce plants or fruit
41:40
Verily, those who turn away from Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc. by attacking, distorting and denying them), are not hidden from Us. Is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what you will. Verily! He is All-Seer of what you do (this is a severe threat to the disbelievers).
41:41
Indeed, those who disbelieve in the message (i.e. the Quran) after it has come to them… And indeed, it is a mighty Book.
41:42
Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a revelation from a [Lord who is] Wise and Praiseworthy.
41:43
Nothing is said to you (O Muhammad) that was not said to the messengers before you: that surely your Lord is the Lord of forgiveness, and at the same time the Lord of painful punishment.
41:44
And if We had sent this as a Quran in a foreign language other than Arabic, they would have said: “Why are not its Verses explained in detail (in our language)? What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (the Messenger) an Arab?” Say: “It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing. And as for those who disbelieve, there is heaviness (deafness) in their ears, and it (the Quran) is blindness for them. They are those who are called from a place far away (so they neither listen nor understand).
41:45
Before this Qur’an, We had given the Book to Musa and it was similarly disputed. If your Lord had not already given a word, the judgement would have been passed between the disputants; grave though their suspicions were about it.
41:46
Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it; and your Lord is not in the least unjust to the servants.
41:47
He Alone has the knowledge of the Hour of Doom. No fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive, nor she gives birth but with His knowledge. On the Day of Judgement when Allah will ask the unbelievers: “Where are those partners that you associated with Me?” They will answer: “We confess that none of us can vouch for them.”
Meaning:-
Meaning:
Doom: death, destruction, or some other terrible fate.
Sheath: covering, sleeve, wrapper
Vouch: to support.
41:48
Those deities whom they used to invoke will vanish from them and they shall realize that there is no escape.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
Invoke: to call on (a deity, Muse, etc.), as in prayer.
Vanish: disappear suddenly and completely.
41:49
Man (the disbeliever) does not get tired of asking good (things from Allah), but if an evil touches him, then he gives up all hope and is lost in despair.
Meaning:-
Despair: the complete loss or absence of hope
41:50
And truly, if We give him a taste of mercy from us, after some adversity (severe poverty or disease, etc.) has touched him, he is sure to say: “This is for me (due to my merit), I think not that the Hour will be established. But if I am brought back to my Lord, Surely, there will be for me the best (wealth, etc.) with Him. Then, We verily, will show to the disbelievers what they have done and We shall make them taste a severe punishment.
41:51
When We bestow favours on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead of coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer!
Meaning:-
Bestow: an honor, right, or gift
41:52
O Prophet, ask them: “Have you ever considered: if this Qur’an is really from Allah and you deny it, who can be more astray than you who has gone too far in strongdefying Him?”
Meaning:-
Defy: disobey, go against, disregard, ignore;
41:53
Soon shall We show them Our signs in the universe and in their own souls, until it becomes clear to them that this Qur’an is indeed the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness over everything?
41:54
Verily! They are in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? (i.e. Resurrection after their deaths, and their return to their Lord). Verily! He it is Who is surrounding all things!
40:1

The revelation of this Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the All-Knowledgeable,
40:3
the forgiver of sins, the Acceptor of repentance, the Stern in punishment and the Lord of bounty; there is no god except Him, to Whom all shall return.
Meaning:-
Stern: firm, strict, or uncompromising.
Bounty: generosity; liberality, a monetary gift or reward.
40:4
None disputes in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah but those who disbelieve. So let not their ability of going about here and there through the land (for their purposes) deceive you [O Muhammad, their ultimate end will be the Fire of Hell]!
40:5
he people of Nuh (Noah) and the confederates after them denied (their Messengers) before these, and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment!
Meaning:-
Confederate: associate, partner, group, nation.
refute: prove wrong, prove false.
40:6
And thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire.
40:7
Those angels who bear the Throne of Allah and those who stand around it glorify their Lord with His praises, believe in Him and implore forgiveness for the believers, saying: “Our Lord! You embrace all things with your mercy and knowledge. Forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the punishment of the blazing fire.
Meaning:-
Implore: beg, appeal to, ask, request.
Blazing: very bright and hot.
40:8
“Our Lord! And make them enter the ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
Offspring: family, children, sons and daughters.
40:9
And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day – You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment.”
40:10
On the Day of Judgement it will be said to the disbelievers: “Allah’s hatred towards you was far greater – during your worldly life when you were called to the Faith and you used to refuse – than your hatred of yourselves.”
40:11
They will say: “Our Lord! Twice have You made us die and twice have You given us life. We now confess our sins. Is there any way out?”
40:12
[They will be told], “That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah , the Most High, the Grand.”
40:13
It is He, Who shows you His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and sends down (rain with which grows) provision for you from the sky. And none remembers but those who turn (to Allah) in obedience and in repentance (by begging His Pardon and by worshipping and obeying Him Alone and none else).
40:14
So invoke Allah with sincere devotion to Him (worship none but Him) however much the unbelievers may dislike it.
Meaning:-
Invoke: to call on (a deity), as in prayer. {Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.}
Devotion: loyalty, faithfulness, dedication, commitment.
40:15
(He is Allah) Owner of High Ranks and Degrees, the Owner of the Throne. He sends the Inspiration by His Command to any of His slaves He wills, that he (the person who receives inspiration) may warn (men) of the Day of Mutual Meeting (i.e. The Day of Resurrection).
40:16
The Day when they all shall come forth from their graves with nothing hidden from Allah. It will be asked: “Whose is the Kingdom today?” No one shall dare to speak, and Allah Himself will say: “It is Allah’s, the One, the Prevailing.
Meaning:-
Prevailing: having superior power or influence.
40:17
Today every soul shall be rewarded for whatever it has earned; today there shall be no injustice; surely Allah is swift in settling accounts.”
40:18
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed.
Meaning:-
Distress: extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
Devoted: very loving or loyal, faithful.
Intercessor: intervene on behalf of another, advocate.
40:19
(Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes, and all that the hearts (of men) conceal.
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
40:20
And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah – He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
Meaning:-
Invoke: to call on (a deity), as in prayer. {Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.}
40:21
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector.
40:22
That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment.
40:23
And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority
40:24
To Fir’aun (Pharaoh), Haman and Qarun (Korah), but they called (him): “A magician, a liar!”
40:25
And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive.” But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error.
40:26
Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)! I fear that he may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!”
40:27
But Moses said, “Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account.”
Meaning:-
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
refuge: shelter, protection, safety, security, asylum.
40:28
At this, a believer from among the relatives of Fir’on, who had kept his faith hidden, said: “Will you kill a man merely because he says: `My Lord is Allah, specially when he has brought you clear signs from your Lord? If he is lying, may his lie be on his head; but if he is speaking the truth, then some of the dreadful things he is threatening you with may very well fall on you. Surely Allah does not guide the one who is a lying transgressor.
Meaning:-
Transgressors: a person who is actually breaking the law, offend; sin.
dreadful: terrible, frightful, horrible, extremely disagreeable.
40:29
O my people! You are the rulers and are dominant in the land today: but who will help us against the scourge of Allah, should it befall us?” Fir’on said: “I am pointing out to you only what I see and I am guiding you only towards the right way.”
Meaning:-
Scourge: cause great suffering to, whip (someone) as a punishment.
40:30
Then the person who was a true believer said: “O my people! In fact I fear for you the day of disaster like of what befell prior people,
40:31
such as the people of Nuh, `Ad and Thamud and those who came after them, and Allah does not intend to wrong His servants.
40:32
“And, O my people! Verily! I fear for you the Day when there will be mutual calling (between the people of Hell and of Paradise).”
40:33
A Day when you will turn your backs and flee having no protector from Allah, And whomsoever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
40:34
And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, ‘Never will Allah send a messenger after him.’ Thus does Allah leave astrayhe who is a transgressor and skeptic.”
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
Skeptic: doubter.
40:35
Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path).
Meaning:-
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
Tyrant: a ruler who has unlimited power over other people, and uses it unfairly and cruelly
40:36
And Pharaoh said, “O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways –
40:37
“The ways of the heavens, and I may look upon the Ilah (God) of Musa (Moses) but verily, I think him to be a liar.” Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the (Right) Path, and the plot of Fir’aun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him).
40:38
The man who was true believer, said: “O my people! Follow me, I shall guide you to the Right Way.
40:39
O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter – that is the home of [permanent] settlement.
40:40
The one who does evil shall be recompensed to the extent of the evil done; and the one who is a believer and does good deeds, whether man or woman, shall enter the paradise and therein receive sustenance without measure.
Meaning:-
Sustenance: food and drink regarded as a source of strength; nourishment.
40:41
And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire?
40:42
You bid me to deny Allah and worship other gods I know nothing of; while I bid you to worship the All-Mighty, the All-Forgiving.
40:43
Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah , and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire.
Meaning:-
Supplication: the action of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly.
Transgressors: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
40:44
So bear in mind what I have told you, I am entrusting my affairs to Allah, surely Allah is ever watchful over His servants.”
40:45
So Allah saved that believer from all those evil plots that the people devised against him, and the people of Fir’on were overtaken by a horrible punishment.
40:46
It is the fire of hell before which they are presented morning and evening, and on the Day when the time of their Judgment will come, it will be commanded: “Make the people of Fir’on (Pharaoh) to enter the severest punishment.”
40:47
Then imagine that time when these people will start arguing with each other in the fire, and the weak followers will say to the arrogant leaders: “We were your followers: can you now save us from some of these flames?”
Meaning:-
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
40:48
The arrogant leaders will reply: “We are all in it together! Allah has already judged between His servants.”
Meaning:-
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
40:49
Also imagine when the dwellers of fire will ask the Keepers (angels) of hell: “Pray to your Lord for relieving our punishment at least for one day!”
Meaning:-
Dwellers: to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside.
40:50
The Keepers of (angels) hell will ask: “Did there not come to you messengers with clear revelations?” “Yes,” they will answer. The Keepers (angels) of hell will say: “Then pray yourselves.” But vain shall be the prayer of the disbelievers.
Meaning:-
Vain: producing no result; useless.
40:51
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand –
40:52
On that Day, no excuses shall avail the wrongdoers. The curse shall be their lot and the worst place will be their home.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: criminal, a person who behaves illegally, or dishonestly; an offender.
40:53
And, indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture [i.e. the Taurat (Torah)],
40:54
As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding.
40:55
So be patient (O Muhammad). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault, and glorify the praises of your Lord in the Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the ‘Asr and Fajr prayers].
Meaning:-
Congregation: a group of people who have come together in a religious building for worship and prayer
40:56
Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them – there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
Meaning:-
refuge:-: shelter, protection, safety, security, asylum,
40:57
The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know.
40:58
And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
Evildoer: a person who does bad or evil things
40:59
Indeed, the Hour (Day of Judgement) is coming – no doubt about it – but most of the people do not believe.
40:60
And your Lord says: “Call on Me, I will answer your prayers. Surely those who are too arrogant to worship Me shall soon enter hell in humiliation.”
Meaning:-
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
40:61
It is Allah Who has made for you the night to rest in and the day to see your way around. Surely Allah is bountiful to mankind, yet most of the people are not thankful.
Meaning:-
Bountiful: giving generously.
40:62
Such is Allah your Lord, the Creator of all things. There is no god but Him. None has the right to be worshipped except Him, so how are you being deluded?
Meaning:-
Delude: to mislead the mind or judgment of; deceive:
40:63
Thus were deluded those who denied the revelations of Allah.
Meaning:-
Delude: to mislead the mind or judgment of; deceive:
40:64
It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!
Meaning:-
Sustenance: food and drink regarded as a source of strength; nourishment.
40:65
He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah , Lord of the worlds.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
40:66
Say, [O Muhammad], “Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.”
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
40:67
It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason.
40:68
It is He Who gives you life and causes you to die. It is He Who when He decides to do something, needs only to say: “Be,” and it is.
40:69
Do you not see how those who argue about the revelations of Allah turn away from the Right Way?
40:70
Those who have denied the Book (this Quran) and the Message which We have sent through Our Messengers shall soon come to know the truth when they will be cast into the fire of hell:
40:71
When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along.
40:72
In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame].
40:73
Then it will be said to them, “Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship]
40:74
besides Allah?” They will answer: “They have vanished us, now we have come to know that those to whom we used to invoke (worship), were in fact nothing.” Thus Allah confounds the disbelievers.
Meaning:-
Invoke:to call on (a deity, Muse, etc.), as in prayer or supplication.
Confound: to confuse and very much surprise someone, so that they are unable to explain or deal with a situation:
40:75
That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error).
Meaning:-
Exult: to express great pleasure or happiness, …
Rejoice: feel or show great joy or delight.
40:76
Now enter the gates of hell to live therein forever. What an evil abode will be for the arrogant !”
Meaning:-
Abode: a place of residence.
Arrogant: unpleasantly proud, a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
40:77
So persevere in patience (O Muhammad); for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return.
40:78
O Prophet, We have sent many messengers before you; of them there are some whose stories We have relayed to you and others whose stories We have not relayed to you. It was not possible for any of those messengers to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah. Then when the command of Allah came, the matter was decided with justice, and it was the wrongdoers who suffered the loss.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
40:79
It is Allah Who has provided you with cattle, that you may use some for riding and some for food;
40:80
and there are also other advantages in them for you; they take you where you wish to go carrying you on their backs as ships carry you by the sea.
40:81
And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny?
40:82
Have they never travelled through the earth and seen what was the end of those who have gone before them? They were more in number and superior in strength than these and they have left behind great traces of their power in the land; yet all that they did was of no avail to them.
