and by the earth which is ever bursting with new growth;

surely this Qur’an is a decisive word,
Meaning:-
Decisive: producing a definite result.
86:14
and it is no joke.
86:15
These unbelievers of Makkah are plotting a scheme (against you O Muhammad).
86:16
And I (too) am planning a plan.
86:17
Therefore, leave the unbelievers alone. Leave them alone for a while.
85:1
By the sky containing great stars
85:2
By the promised Day of Judgment!
85:3
And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
85:4
Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King).
85:5
[Containing] the fire full of fuel,
85:6
When they were sitting near it
85:7
And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them).
85:8
They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise!
85:9
Who, to Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything.
85:10
Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.
85:11
As for those who believe and do good deeds, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow; which will be the greatest success.
85:12
Verily, (O Muhammad) the Grip (Punishment) of your Lord is severe.
85:13
Surely, He it is Who originates the creation of everything, and He it is Who will repeat it on the Day of Resurrection.
85:14
He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
85:15
Honorable Owner of the Throne,
85:16
He does what He intends (or wills).
85:17
Have you not heard the story of the warriors
Meaning:-
Warrior: fighter, combatant, soldier.
85:18
of Fir’on (Pharaoh) and of Thamud?
85:19
Nay! those who disbelieve are in (the act of) giving the lie to the truth,
85:20
although Allah has encircled them from all around.
85:21
Surely this is a Glorious Qur’an,
85:22
(Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)!

When the sky has split [open]
84:2
And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
84:3
When the earth will spread out
84:4
And has cast out all that was in it and became empty,
84:5
And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
84:6
O mankind! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).
84:7
Then he who will be given his Book of deeds in his right hand,
84:8
He will be judged with an easy account
84:9
And return to his people in happiness.
84:10
But he who will be given his book of deeds from behind his back,
84:11
shall soon be calling for death,
84:12
And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning.
Meaning:-
Blazing: burn fiercely or brightly.
84:13
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
84:14
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah ].
84:15
Yet, surely his Lord was ever watching over his misdeeds.
84:16
I swear by the glow of sunset;
Meaning:-
Glow: give out steady light without flame.
84:17
And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;
84:18
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
84:19
You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
84:20
What is the matter with the people that they do not believe,
84:21
And, when the Qur’an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
84:22
But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
84:23
and Allah knows what they are hiding in their hearts.
84:24
Therefore, announce to them a painful punishment,
84:25
except those who embrace the true faith and do good deeds; for them there will be a never ending reward.
83:1
Woe to those that deal in fraud,-
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
83:2
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,
83:3
And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
83:4
Do they not think that they will be raised to life again
83:5
On a Great Day,
83:6
a Day when all mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
83:7
Indeed not! The record of the wicked is in Sijjeen (prison register),
Meaning:-
Sijjeen (Arabic:) means a ‘register’ wherein the deeds of believers are recorded. In other words, it is like a ledger where the accounts are recorded. The term sijjin is based on sijn which has different meanings, such as: ‘prison, hard, anything hard, a terrible place in the bottom of Hell’; the place where the records of the Wicked are held.
83:8
what will explain to you, what the Sijjeen is?
83:9
This is a written book of hell.
83:10
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers,
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
83:11
who deny the Day of Judgment!
83:12
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.
Meaning:-
Transgressors: a person who is actually breaking the law, offend; sin.
83:13
Who, when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him, says: “These are the tales of the ancient peoples.”
83:14
Of course not! In fact their misdeeds have caused a covering on their hearts.
83:15
Indeed on that Day, they shall be debarred from the vision of their Lord.
Meaning:-
Debarred: block, stop; lock out, keep out.
83:16
Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.
83:17
Then it will be said [to them], “This is what you used to deny.”
83:18
But, surely the record of the righteous is in `Illiyeen (register of exalted ones),
Meaning:-
Illiyeen (Arabic) : High Status, Exalted, Sublime and Superb
83:19
and what will explain to you, what the `Illiyeen is?
83:20
This is a written book,
83:21
attested by those who are nearest to Allah (angels).
83:22
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
83:23
reclining on soft couches, looking all around,
Recline: lean or lie back in a relaxed position with the back supported.
83:24
and you will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss.
Meaning:-
Bliss: perfect happiness; great joy.
83:25
They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.
83:26
Whose sealing is musk; for this then let the competitors compete-
83:27
That wine shall have a mixture of Tasnim,
Meaning:-
Tasnim (Arabic): Fountain of paradise.
83:28
a spring, at which those nearest to Allah will drink.
83:29
Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
83:30
And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);
Meaning:-
Mockery: insulting, making a fool out of someone, To make fun of, teasing and contemptuous language
83:31
When they returned to their own people they returned jesting.
Jesting: speak or act in a joking manner.
83:32
And when they saw the believers, they used to say: “These are the people who have surely gone astray,”
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
83:33
But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).
83:34
On that Day, the believers shall be laughing at the unbelievers,
83:35
as they recline on couches and gaze at them:
Meaning:-
Recline: lean or lie back in a relaxed position with the back supported.
Gaze: look steadily and intently,
83:36
“Have not the unbelievers been fully rewarded for what they used to do?”
82:1
When the sky breaks apart
82:2
And when the stars have fallen and scattered;
Meaning:-
Scattered: distributed or occurring at widely spaced and usually irregular intervals
82:3
And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up);
82:4
and when the graves will be laid open:
82:5
(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
82:6
O mankind! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?
82:7
Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion;
82:8
In whatever form He willed, He put you together.
82:9
Nay! In fact you deny the Day of Judgement!
82:10
You should know that guardian angels have indeed been appointed over you,
82:11
Noble and recording;
82:12
They know whatever you do.
82:13
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
82:14
while the wicked will indeed go to hell,
Meaning:-
Wicked: evil or morally wrong.
82:15
They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
82:16
and they shall not be able to escape from it.
82:17
What will explain to you what the Day of Judgment is?
82:18
Again, what will explain to you what the Day of Judgment is?
82:19
It will be the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another: for, on that Day, Allah shall keep the entire command to Himself.
81:1
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
81:2
And when the stars fall, dispersing,
Meaning:-
Dispersing: dissolve. fade away, disappear, scatter.
81:3
And when the mountains are removed
81:4
when the ten-month pregnant she-camels will be left unattended;
81:5
when the wild beasts will be brought together;
81:6
And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;
Meaning:-
Blazing: burn fiercely or brightly.
81:7
when the souls will be reunited with the bodies;
81:8
And when the female infant buried alive will be asked.
81:9
For what sin she was killed?
81:10
And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open;
81:11
And when the heaven has its covering removed,
81:12
And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.
Meaning:-
Fierce: powerful, strong, violent, forceful; stormy.
Ablaze: aflame, burning, burning very strongly.
81:13
and when the paradise will be brought near:
81:14
(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
81:15
So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).
Meaning:-
Recede: retreat, go back, fade.
81:16
Those that run [their courses] and disappear –
81:17
And by the night as it departs;
81:18
by the morning when it breaths again:
81:19
Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad].
81:20
possessor of mighty power, having very high rank with the Owner of the Throne (Allah),
81:21
who is obeyed in heaven, and is trustworthy.
81:22
And (O people) your companion (Muhammad) is not a madman;
81:23
he (Muhammad) indeed saw him (Gabriel) in the clear horizon
Meaning:-
Horizon: the limit or range of a person’s knowledge or understanding.
81:24
And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
81:25
This (Qur’an) is not the word of an accursed Shaitan.
Meaning:-
Accursed: under a curse, cursed.
81:26
Where then are you going?
81:27
This (the Quran) is but a Message to all the people of the world,
81:28
to each one who wishes to follow the Right Way.
81:29
And you do not will except that Allah wills – Lord of the worlds.
80:1
The Prophet frowned and turned away
Meaning:-
Frowned: disliked, disapprove of.
80:2
when there came to him the blind man (Ibn Umme Maktum, who came to the Prophet and interrupted his conversation with the Quraish chiefs of Makkah).
80:3
But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?
80:4
or become reminded and might have benefited from Our reminder
80:5
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
80:6
To him you attend;
80:7
you will not be held responsible if he would not purify himself.
80:8
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]
Meaning:-
Striving: make great efforts to achieve or obtain something.
80:9
and with fear of Allah in his heart,
80:10
From him you are distracted.
Meaning:-
Distracted: unable to concentrate because one’s mind is preoccupied.
80:11
No! Indeed, these verses (Verses of this Quran) are a reminder;
80:12
So whoever wills may remember it.
80:13
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
Meaning:-
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
80:15
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels,
80:16
who are noble and virtuous.
Meaning:-
Virtuous: upstanding, high-minded, principled, righteous, good, pure.
80:17
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
80:18
Out of what Allah has created him?
80:19
Out of a semen-drop! Allah created him and then fashioned him in due proportion,
80:20
then makes his way of life smooth for him,
80:21
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him.
80:22
Then He will surely bring him back to life when He pleases.
80:23
By no means has he fulfilled the duty that Allah had assigned him.
80:24
Then let mankind look at his food –
80:25
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance,
Meaning:-
Abundance:an extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply:
80:26
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts],
Meaning:-
Sprouts: to begin to grow; shoot forth, as a plant from a seed.
80:27
And caused to grow within it grain
80:28
grapes and nutritious vegetation;
80:29
olives and dates,
80:30
And gardens, dense with many trees,
80:31
And fruit and grass –
80:32
Provision for you and your cattle.
80:33
Finally when there come the deafening blast,
80:34
on that Day each man shall flee from his own brother,
80:35
his mother and his father,
80:36
his wife and his children.
80:37
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
Meaning:-
Indifferent: unconcerned, uninterested, uncaring.
80:38
Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism).
Meaning:-
Monotheism: the doctrine or belief that there is only one God.
80:39
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
80:40
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.
80:41
Blackness will cover them.
80:42
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
Meaning:-
Wicked: evil or morally wrong.
79:1
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence;
79:2
By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers);
79:3
And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.).
79:4
then speed headlong to carry out the commands of Allah,
79:5
and those who regulate the affairs of the world!
79:6
On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die),
79:7
The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up),
79:8
(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety.
Meaning:-
Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease.
79:9
Their eyes cast down.
79:10
The unbelievers say: “Shall we really be restored to our former state (life),
79:11
“Even after we are crumbled bones?”
79:12
They say: “It would, in that case, be a return with loss!”
79:13
They should know that it shall be only a single shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet),
79:14
When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death,
79:15
Have you heard the story of Musa (Moses)?
79:16
When His Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,
79:17
and said: “Go to Fir’on (Pharaoh) for he has indeed transgressed:- all bounds,
Meaning:-
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
79:18
And say to him, ‘Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
79:19
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'”
79:20
Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles).
79:21
But [Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] denied and disobeyed;
79:22
Then he quickly turned back,
79:23
And he gathered [his people] and called out
79:24
And proclaimed: “I (Fir’on) am your Lord the Highest.”
79:25
Consequently, Allah seized him for punishment, both in the Hereafter and in this life.
79:26
Surely in this there is a lesson for the Godfearing.
79:27
O mankind, is your creation harder than the heaven that He built?
79:28
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
79:29
Its night He covers with darkness, and its forenoon He brings out (with light).
79:30
“And we have made the earth egg shaped
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
(Waal-arda baAAda thalika dahaha)
Note:- The Arabic word Dahaha means egg shaped. It also means an expanse. Dahaha is derived from Duhiya which specifically refers to the egg of an ostrich which is geospherical in shape, exactly like the shape of the earth.
Most of the translators used Dahaha as spread in their translations
79:31
then from it He brought forth its water and its pasture,
Meaning:-
Pasture: grassland, plants, vegetation
79:32
And the mountains He set firmly
79:33
and made them beneficial for you and your cattle.
79:34
When the great disaster will strike,
79:35
the Day when man will call to mind all that he had striven for.
Meaning:-
Strive: make great efforts to achieve or obtain something.
79:36
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see –
79:37
So as for he who transgressed
Meaning:-
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
79:38
And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts),
Meaning:-
Lust: illicit sexual desire, a passionate or overmastering desire.
79:39
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] home.
79:40
But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts.
Meaning:-
Lust: illicit sexual desire, a passionate or overmastering desire.
79:41
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] home.
79:42
They ask you (O Muhammad) about the Hour, – when will be its appointed time?
79:43
In what [position] are you that you should mention it?
79:44
Only your Lord knows when it will come.
79:45
You (O Muhammad) are only a warner for those who fear it,
79:46
On that Day when they shall see it, they shall feel as if they had stayed in this world only one evening or one morning.
78:1
About what are they asking one another?
78:2
About the great news –
78:3
That over which they are in disagreement.
78:4
No! They are going to know.
78:5
We repeat, very soon they shall come to know.
78:6
Have We not made the earth a resting place?
78:7
And the mountains as stakes?
78:8
And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.).
78:9
provided you rest in sleep,
78:10
And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),
78:11
made the day to work for earning your livelihood,
78:12
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),
78:13
And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun).
78:14
And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water
78:15
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations,
78:16
and gardens of luxurious growth?
78:17
The Day of decision (Day of Judgement) is already fixed.
78:18
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups);
78:19
And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates,
78:20
And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.
Meaning:-
Mirage: of something that seems to be far away but does not
78:21
Surely Hell has been observing, (i.e., in expectation of the criminals).
78:22
For the transgressors a place of destination:
Meaning:-
Transgressors: a person who is actually breaking the law, offend; sin.
78:23
In which they will remain for ages [unending].
78:24
They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink
78:25
Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges.
78:26
An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes).
78:27
For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds),
78:28
And called Our verses a lie, giving the lie (to the truth).
78:29
And We have recorded everything in a book,
78:30
It will be said: “Taste the fruits of your deeds! You shall have nothing but increase in punishment.”
78:31
On that Day, the righteous will certainly achieve their Heart’s desires:
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
78:32
Gardens and grapevines
78:33
and young women of their own age,
78:34
And a full cup (of wine).
78:35
No ill speech will they hear therein or any lying –
78:36
A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds).
78:37
from the Compassionate, Who is the Lord of the heavens, the earth and all that lies between them; before Whom no one shall be able to speak.
78:38
On that Day, the Spirit (Gabriel) and the angels shall stand in their ranks; none shall speak except the one to whom the Compassionate (Allah) shall grant permission to speak, and he will speak straight to the point.
78:39
That Day is a sure reality. Let him who desires, seek a way back to his Lord.
78:40
Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”
77:1
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another.
77:2
By the raging hurricanes.
Meaning:-
Raging: showing violent uncontrollable anger.
77:3
And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]
77:4
then [angels] separate them one from another.
77:5
And those [angels] who deliver a message
77:6
To cut off all excuses or to warn;
77:7
Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.
77:8
Then when the stars lose their lights;
77:9
And when the heaven is opened
77:10
the mountains will crumble into dust,
77:11
And when the messengers are gathered at their appointed time
77:12
For what Day are these signs postponed?
77:13
For the Day of Judgement.
77:14
And what will explain to you, what the Day of Judgement is?
77:15
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers!
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
77:16
Did We not destroy the former generations for their evil deeds?
77:17
And We shall do the same to later generations who will follow them.
77:18
Thus do We deal with the criminals.
77:19
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers!
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
77:20
Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)?
77:21
Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),
77:22
for an appointed term?
77:23
We have estimated its term – how excellent an estimator We are!
77:24
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers!
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
77:25
Have We not made the earth a home for both
77:26
the living and the dead,
77:27
set on it lofty mountains, and given you sweet water to drink?
Meaning:-
Lofty: tall, high, giant, towering.
77:28
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers!
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
77:29
On the Day of Judgement it will be said to the disbelievers: “Walk on to hell which you used deny!
77:30
Proceed to a shadow [of Hell-fire smoke] having three columns
77:31
[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame.”
77:32
Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)],
77:33
as if they were yellow camels.”
77:34
Woe on that Day to the disbelievers!
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
77:35
On that Day, they shall not be able to speak,
