114:4

“From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allah),
Meaning:-
Whisper: speak softly, murmur, mumble.

113:5

And from the evil of the envious one as he practises envy.
Meaning:-
Envious: Envious is another way to say jealous or resentful
Envy: to wish that you had a quality or possession that another person has

111:4

And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet, or use to slander him) ..
Meaning:-
Slander: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation.

108:1

O Muhammad, surely We have granted you the Kauthar (countless blessings – it is also the name of a special fountain which will be granted to Prophet Muhammad on the Day of Judgement ).

107:4

So woe to those ˹hypocrites˺ who pray
Meaning:-
Woe: great sorrow or distress.
Hypocrites: a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

105:1

Have you not seen ˹O Prophet˺ how your Lord dealt with the Army of the Elephant?

(reference is made to Abraha, a Christian king of Yaman, who attacked Makkah with the army of elephants in the year of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth)?

105:3

And send against them flocks of birds,
Meaning:-
Flock: large group.
Note:
The miracle consisted in the birds coming in large flights and flinging stones at the army which destroyed the whole of Abraha’s army.

104:9

In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.).
Meaning:-
Other possible translations:
1. “The Fire will be in towering columns.”
2. “They will be tied to long pillars.”

102:1

O mankind, you have been distracted by the rivalry of piling up worldly gains against one another.
Meaning:-
Rivalry: competition for the same objective.
Piling: squeezing , pushing.

102:8

you shall believe it, but that belief is going to do you no good because – on that Day, you shall be questioned about the blessings (faculties and resources that you were given in the worldly life – as to how you used them?)

98:1

The disbelievers from the People of the Book and the polytheists were not going to desist ˹from disbelief˺ until the clear proof came to them:
Meaning:-
Polytheist: belief in more than one god or in many gods.
Desist:to cease, as from some action or proceeding; stop.

98:2

A Messenger (Muhammad) from Allah, reciting (the Quran) purified pages [purified from Al-Batil (falsehood, etc.)].
Meaning:-
Falsehood: lie, untruth, fabrication, fairy tale.

98:5

And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight.
Meaning:-
Devotion: religious worship, piety.

98:6

Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
Meaning:-
Polytheist: belief in more than one god or in many gods.
abiding: long-lasting, lifelong, permanent,
eternally: forever, permanent, everlasting, timeless, never-ending, nonstop.

98:8

Their reward with their Lord shall be the gardens of Eden, underneath which the rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. Allah shall be well pleased with them and they shall be well pleased with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord.
Meaning:-
Dwell: reside, live in or at a specified place.

97:4

Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah’s permission, on every errand:
Meaning:-
Errand: a short journey undertaken in order to deliver or collect

96:6

Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.).
Meaning:-
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.

96:9

Have you seen the one (Abu Jahl) who forbids
Meaning:-
Abu Jahl (Arabic‎‎): (born 556? died Wednesday, March 17, 624), was one of the Meccan polytheist pagan Qurayshi leaders known for his critical opposition towards the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the early Muslims in Mecca.
Forbids: prohibit, ban, refuse to allow (something).

96:15

Nay! If he (Abu Jahl,) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock,
Meaning:-
Abu Jahl (Arabic‎‎): (born 556? died Wednesday, March 17, 624), was one of the Meccan polytheist pagan Qurayshi leaders known for his critical opposition towards the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the early Muslims in Mecca.
Forelock: a piece of hair that grows or falls over the forehead (= part of the face above the eyes)

95:4

Verily, We created man of the best stature (mould),
Meaning:-
Stature: importance, development, or reputation gained by ability or achievement.
Mould: a distinctive and typical style, form, or character.

91:13

But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh) ] said to them: “Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!”

89:7

The residents of Iram, the city of lofty pillars, (i.e., It is the city of Aad, who were stalwart and huge buildings).
Meaning:-
Lofty: tall, high, giant.
Stalwart: loyal, faithful, committed, hardworking.

89:9

And with the people of Thamud who hewed out their dwellings in the rocks of the valley?
Meaning:-
Hewed: chop or cut (something, especially wood) with an ax, pick, or other tool.
Dwellings: residence, home, house, accommodations.

89:10

And (with) Fir’aun (Pharaoh), who had pegs (who used to torture men by binding them to pegs)?
Meaning:-
Pegs: a short cylindrical piece of wood, metal, or plastic, typically tapered at one end, that is used for holding things together, hanging things on.
Torture: abuse, mistreat, causing great physical or mental pain.

89:15

As for man, when his Lord tries him through giving him honor and blessings, he says: “My Lord is bountiful to me.”
Meaning:-
Bountiful: giving generously.

89:16

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, “My Lord has humiliated me.”
Meaning:-
Provision: food or other necessities

89:19

Greedily you lay your hands on the inheritance of the weak,
Meaning:-
Greedily: having or showing a selfish desire to have more of something (such as money or food) : having greed
Inheritance: money, land, or possessions received from someone after the person has died

89:24

He will say: “Alas! Would that I had sent forth some good deeds for this life of mine.”
Meaning:-
Alas: an expression of grief, pity, or concern.

89:27

To the righteous soul it will be said: “O fully satisfied soul!
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.

Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection);
