except an old woman who was among those who remained behind,

and We destroyed the others.

And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

and by night. Will you not use your common sense?

And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers.

[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers,

Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.
Meaning:-
Blameworthy: responsible for wrongdoing and deserving of censure or blame.
37:143
Had he not repented and became of those who glorify Allah,
37:144
He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection.
37:145
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
37:146
and caused a gourd plant to grow over him.
37:147
And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.
37:148
They believed in him, so We permitted them to enjoy their life for a while.
37:149
Just ask the unbelievers, [O Muhammad], : Does it make any sense that their Lord should have daughters while they choose to have sons?
37:150
Or is it that We created the angels as females and they were present at their creation?
37:151
Surely they invent a lie when they say:
37:152
“Allah has children. They are utter liars.”
37:153
Would He choose daughters rather than sons?
37:154
What is the matter with you? How do you judge?
37:155
Will you then not be mindful?
Meaning:-
Mindful: conscious or aware of something.
37:156
Or do you have any proof of what you are saying?
37:157
Then bring your Book if you are truthful!
37:158
They assert blood-relationship between Him and the jinns; and the jinns know quite well that they will be called to account.
Meaning:-
Jinn: (in Arabian) an intelligent spirit of lower rank than the angels, able to appear in human and animal forms and to possess humans.
37:159
Glory be to Allah! He is free from what they ascribe to Him
Meaning:-
Ascribe: attribute something to (a cause), attribute to.
37:160
Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].
37:161
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
37:162
Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers],
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
37:163
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.
37:164
The angels in fact say: “We each have our appointed place.
37:165
Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);
37:166
Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah’s Praises i.e. perform prayers).
37:167
And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,
37:168
“If we had received a reminder which the earlier people had received,
37:169
We would have been the chosen servants of Allah .”
37:170
But now that the Qur’an has come, they reject it: but soon they will find out the consequences of this attitude.
Meaning:-
Consequences: a result of a particular action or situation, often one that is bad or not convenient
37:171
And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the messengers:
37:172
that they would certainly be helped,
37:173
and that Our forces will surely be victorious.
37:174
So give no heed to them for a while;
Meaning:-
Heed: pay attention to; take notice of.
37:175
you will see their downfall as they shall see your victory.
37:176
Do they wish to hurry on Our punishment?
37:177
But dreadful will be that morning, when it will descend in the courtyards of those who have been forewarned.
Meaning:-
Descends: causing or involving great suffering, fear, or unhappiness; extremely bad or serious.
Forewarn: inform (someone) of a danger or possible problem, warn, warn in advance, give advance warning, give fair warning,
37:178
So turn (O Muhammad) away from them for a while,
37:179
You will surely see their downfall as they shall see your victory.
37:180
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
Meaning:-
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
37:181
And peace upon the messengers.
37:182
And praise to Allah , Lord of the worlds.
5:1
O believers! Fulfil your contract obligations. All four-legged animals from livestock are lawful to you other than those which are hereby announced. However do not violate the prohibition of hunting while you are in Ihram (Hajj dress). Indeed Allah orders whatever He pleases
Meaning:-
Livestock: farm animals, such as cattle, cow.
5:2
O believers! Do not violate the sanctity of the Symbols of Allah: the Sacred Month , the animals brought for sacrifice, the garlands that mark such animals, and those people visiting the Sacred House (Ka’bah) to seek the grace and good pleasure of their Lord. When you put off your Ihram (Hajj pilgrimage is over) then you are allowed to hunt. Let not the hatred of some people – who once hindered you from the Sacred Mosque – incite you to commit transgression. Cooperate with one another in righteousness and piety, and do not cooperate in sin and transgression. Have fear of Allah. Allah is stern in punishment.
Meaning:-
Sanctity: holiness, saintliness, or godliness
Sacred: religious, spiritual.
Hindered: to cause delay, interruption, or difficulty in; hamper; impede
Incite : to stir, encourage, or urge on; stimulate or prompt to action:
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
Transgression:an act of transgressing; violation of a law,
command, etc.; sin
5:3
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Meaning:-
Swine : having a thick hide sparsely covered with coarse hair
Strangling : to kill by squeezing the throat in order to compress the windpipe and prevent the intake of air, as with the hands or a tightly drawn cord
Goring : the triangular area along a leech of a square sail, created by the presence of a gore.
Horns : that project from the upper part of the head of certain ungulate mammals, as cattle, sheep, goats, or antelopes.
Altars : at whichreligious rites are performed or on which sacrifices are offered to gods
despaired: lose or be without hope, lose faith, be discouraged
Inclinations: An inclination is something you are leaning toward, such as a behavior or a habit
5:4
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, “Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allah has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allah upon it, and fear Allah .” Indeed, Allah is swift in account.
5:5
This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation (dowries), desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith – his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.
Meaning:-
Chaste: not having had sex, or only having a sexual relationship with the person you are married
5:6
O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salat (the prayer), wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles. If you are in a state of Janaba (i.e. had a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body). But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favour on you that you may be thankful.
5:7
And remember the favor of Allah upon you and His covenant with which He bound you when you said, “We hear and we obey”; and fear Allah . Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.
Meaning:-
Covenant: an agreement between God and his people
5:8
O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
Meaning:-
Enmity: bitterness, bad feeling, animosity, dislike
Piety: a strong belief in God or a religion, shown by your worship and behavior, devotion and reverence to religious practices and God.
Acquaint: familiar with, aware of, inform of.
5:9
Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
5:10
But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs – those are the companions of Hellfire.
5:11
O believers! Also remember Allah’s favor which He recently bestowed upon you when He restrained the hands of those who sought to harm you (Jewish plan to kill the Prophet and eminent companions through an invitation to a dinner which Allah informed him not to attend). Have fear of Allah; and in Allah let the believers put their trust.
Meaning:-
Bestow: an honor, right, or gift
Restrained: to describe something that’s kept under control, keep in check
Eminent: famous, respected, or important
5:12
And Allah had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We delegated from among them twelve leaders. And Allah said, “I am with you. If you establish prayer and give charity and believe in My messengers and support them and loan Allah a goodly loan, I will surely remove from you your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever of you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way.”
Meaning:-
Covenant: an agreement between God and his people
Beneath: below; in or to a lower place, position, underneath
Stray: move idly or casually in a specified direction.
5:13
But on account of their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard; they altered the words from their places and they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of; and you shall always discover treachery in them excepting a few of them; so pardon them and turn away; surely Allah loves those who do good (to others).
Meaning:-
Covenant: an agreement between God and his people
Treachery: betrayal, disloyalty, unfaithfulness, backstabbing, dirty tricks.
5:14
And from those who say, “We are Christians” We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do.
Meaning:-
Covenant: an agreement between God and his people
animosity: bitterness, strong dislike, opposition, or anger
5:15
O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
light: Guidance, (Hidayat), wisdom.
5:16
By which Allah guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
5:17
They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, “Then who could prevent Allah at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?” And to Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allah is over all things competent.
Meaning:-
Sovereignty: supreme power or authority.
Competent: having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.
5:18
But the Jews and the Christians say, “We are the children of Allah and His beloved.” Say, “Then why does He punish you for your sins?” Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.
Meaning:-
Sovereignty: supreme power or authority.
5:19
O people of the Book! Indeed Our Messenger has now come to you making clear to you the teaching of the Right Way, after a long break in the series of the Messengers, so that you may not be able to say, “No one has come to give us good news or to warn us.” Now someone has come to give you good news and warn you so listen to him. Allah has power over everything.
5:20
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, “O my people, remember the favor of Allah upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you kings and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds.
5:21
“O my people! Enter the holy land (Palestine) which Allah has assigned for you. Do not turn back (from fighting in Allah ‘s cause), because if you do, you will become losers.”
5:22
They said, “O Moses, indeed within it is a people of tyrannical strength, and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter.”
Meaning:-
Tyrannical: exercising power in a cruel or arbitrary way.
5:23
Two men of those who feared (Allah and) on whom Allah had bestowed His Grace [they were Yusha’ (Joshua) and Kalab (Caleb)] said: “Assault: them through the gate, for when you are in, victory will be yours, and put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed.”
Meaning:-
Bestow: an honor, right, an honor, to present as a gift
Assault:: a physical attack.
5:24
They said, “O Moses, indeed we will not enter it, ever, as long as they are within it; so go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are remaining right here.”
5:25
He [Musa (Moses)] said: “O my Lord! I have power only over myself and my brother, so separate us from the defiantly disobedient people.”
5:26
Allah responded, “Very well, they are forbidden this land for forty years, during this time they will wander homeless on the earth, so do not grieve for these disobedient people.”
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
Wander: To move about without a definite destination or purpose.
5:27
And recite to them the story of Adam’s two sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah ], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], “I will surely kill you.” Said [the former], “Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].
Meaning:-
righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
5:28
If you should raise your hand against me to kill me – I shall not raise my hand against you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah , Lord of the worlds.
5:29
Surely I wish that you should bear the sin committed against me and your own sin, and so you would be of the inmates of the fire, and this is the recompense of the unjust.
Meaning:-
Inmate: prisoner, convict, captive, resident,
5:30
And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers.
5:31
(He carried around the dead body of his brother and did not know what to do with it.) Then Allah sent a crow, which dug the ground to show him how to bury the dead body of his brother. “Alas!” He cried, “I failed even to be like this raven to find some way to dispose of the dead body of my brother!” So he became full of regrets.
Meaning:-
Raven: the largest bird in the crow family, with shiny black feathers.
5:32
On account of that incident, We ordained for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a person, except as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land, it will be written in his book of deeds as if he had killed all the human beings on the surface of the Earth and whoever will save a life shall be regarded as if he gave life to all the human beings on the surface of the Earth. Yet, even though Our Messengers came to them one after the other with clear revelations, it was not long before, many of them committed excesses in the land.
5:33
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
Meaning:-
wage: engage in, carry on, conduct, execute, pursue, prosecute,
crucify: to put to death by nailing or binding the hands and feet to a cross.
exiled: a person banished from his or her native land.
Disgrace: dishonor, shame, disrespect; degrade.
5:34
Except for those who (having fled away and then) came back (as Muslims) with repentance before they fall into your power; in that case, know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5:35
O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah and fear Him. Seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much as you can. So that you may be successful.
Meaning:-
Strive: make great efforts to achieve or obtain something, struggle.
5:36
Indeed, those who disbelieve – if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and for them is a painful punishment
Meaning:-
Ransom: redeem from punishment for sin, to redeem from captivity, bondage, detention, etc., by paying ademanded price.
5:37
They will desire to get out of the fire but will not be able to do so and they shall have an everlasting punishment.
5:38
Male or female, whoever is guilty of theft, cut off the hand (that was used in theft) of either of them as a punishment for their crime. This is exemplary punishment ordained by Allah. Allah is Mighty, Wise.
Meaning:-
Exemplary: (of a punishment) serving as a warning or deterrent.
5:39
But whoever repents after committing the crime and reforms his conduct, Allah will surely turn to him with forgiveness. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
5:40
Don’t you know that Allah has sovereignty over the heavens and the earth? He may punish whom He pleases and forgive whom He pleases. Allah has power over everything.
Meaning:-
Sovereignty: supreme power or authority.
5:41
O Messenger, let them not grieve you who hasten into disbelief of those who say, “We believe” with their mouths, but their hearts believe not, and from among the Jews. [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another people who have not come to you. They distort words beyond their [proper] usages, saying “If you are given this, take it; but if you are not given it, then beware.” But he for whom Allah intends fitnah – never will you possess [power to do] for him a thing against Allah . Those are the ones for whom Allah does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.
Meaning:-
Avid: having or showing a keen interest in or enthusiasm for something.
Distort: give a misleading or false account or impression of.
Fitnah: Fitnah (Aribic) : Spreading Mischief, trying to force the Muslims to revert from their religion and re-embrace Kufr after they had believed, is worse with Allah than killing.
Disgrace: dishonor, shame, disrespect; degrade.
5:42
That is because they listen to falsehood and eat what is forbidden. Therefore, if they come to you with their cases, you may judge between them or refuse to do so. Even if you refuse, they will not be able to harm you the least, but if you do act as a judge, judge between them with fairness, for Allah loves those who judge with fairness.
Meaning:-
forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
5:43
But why do they come to you for judgement when they have the Taurat (Torah) which contains Allah’s commandments? Yet they turn back after that. In fact, they are not true believers.
5:44
Indeed, We sent down the Torah (Torah) to Moses, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allah ] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah , and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers.
Meaning:-
Rabbis: a religious leader and teacher in the Jewish religion
5:45
We prescribed in Taurat (Torah) for them: “A life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth and for a wound an equal retaliation.” But if anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity it will be an act of atonement for him; those who do not judge by the law which Allah has revealed, they are the wrongdoers.
Meaning:-
prescribed: as a rule or a course of action to be followed, set down as a rule or guide · appointed, decreed, ordained.
Wound: an injury or hurt
retaliation: revenge, response, reaction, reply
Remits: to cancel or free someone from (a punishment, debt, etc.)
Atonement: Reconciliation, reparation for a wrong or injury. (Reparation means: payment for harm or damage)
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
5:46
Then in the footsteps of those Prophets, We sent Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary) confirming whatever remained intact from the Taurat (Torah) in his time, and gave him the Injeel (Gospel) wherein was guidance and light, corroborating what was revealed in the Taurat (Torah); a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.
Meaning:-
Intact: complete and in the original state, not changed or diminished; not influenced
Corroborating: to support with evidence or authority : make more certain, confirm or give support to
Admonition: an act or action of admonishing; authoritative counsel or warning, counsel, advice, or caution.
5:47
And let the People of the Gospel (Injeel) judge by what Allah has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.
5:48
And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad) the Book (this Quran) in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and Mohayminan (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures). So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ.
Meaning:-
Vain: producing no result; useless.
Diverging: to follow a different direction, or to be or become different:
Prescribed: as a rule or a course of action to be followed, set down as a rule or guide · appointed, decreed, ordained.
:Strive make great efforts to achieve or obtain something, struggle or fight vigorously.
5:49
And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away – then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.
Meaning:-
Inclinations: An inclination is something you are leaning toward, such as a behavior or a habit
Afflict: (of a problem or illness) cause pain or suffering to; affect or trouble.
Disobedient: refusing or failing to obey, insubordinate,
5:50
Do they then seek the judgement of (the Days of) Ignorance? And who is better in judgement than Allah for a people who have firm Faith.
Meaning:-
Ignorance: lack of knowledge or information, unawareness of.
5:51
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.
Meaning:-
Allies: a person who associates, friendship or cooperates with another; supporter.
5:52
You see that those who have the disease of hypocrisy in their hearts move around in their camp saying: “We fear lest a turn of fortune strike us.” But soon when Allah gives you victory or a decision according to His will, they will regret for what they are hiding in their hearts.
Meaning:-
Hypocrisy: what they say is not what they do.
5:53
And those who believe will say, “Are these the ones who swore by Allah their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?” Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.
5:54
O believers! Whoever among you renounce Islam let him do so; soon Allah will replace them with others whom He will love and they will love Him, who will be humble towards the believers, mighty against the unbelievers, striving hard in the way of Allah, and do not fear the blame of a critic. Now this is the grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases. Allah has boundless knowledge.
Meaning:-
Renounce: reject, deny, leave, to give up
critic: detractor, attacker, fault-finder,
Strive make great efforts to achieve or obtain something, struggle or fight vigorously.
Bestow: an honor, right, an honor, to present as a gift
5:55
Behold, your only helper shall be God, and His Messenger, and those who have attained to faith – those that are constant in prayer, and render the purifying dues, and bow down [before God]:
5:56
And whosoever takes Allah, His Messenger, and those who have believed, as Protectors, then the party of Allah will be the victorious.
5:57
O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers.
Meaning:-
Mockery: behavior or speech that makes fun of someone or something in a hurtful way
5:58
And when you proclaim the call for As-Salat [call for the prayer (Adhan)], they take it (but) as a mockery and fun; that is because they are a people who understand not.
Meaning:-
Mockery: behavior or speech that makes fun of someone or something in a hurtful way
5:59
Tell them: “O people of the Book! What makes you against us other than that we believe in Allah and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before? The fact is that most of you are defiantly disobedient.”
5:60
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Shall I inform you of those who deserve a worse punishment from Allah ˹than the rebellious˺? They are those whom Allah has cursed; who have incurred His wrath; some of whom were turned into apes and pigs; who worshipped Taghut (false gods); these are worse in rank and far more astray from the Right Way.”
Meaning:-
Rebellious: disobedient, insubordinate.
Incurred: to come into or acquire (some consequence, usually undesirable or injurious):
Wrath: extreme anger
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
5:61
And when they come to you, they say, “We believe.” But they have entered with disbelief [in their hearts], and they have certainly left with it. And Allah is most knowing of what they were concealing.
Meaning:-
Concealing: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
5:62
You will see many of them try to beat each other in sin and rancor, and they consume what is unlawful. Evil indeed is what they do.
Meaning:-
rancor: bitterness, a feeling of hate
5:63
Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.
Meaning:-

Devouring: to eat greedily, eat hungrily
Wretched: unfortunate state, unpleasant or of low quality.
5:64
And the Jews say, “The hand of Allah is chained.” Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.
Meaning:-
Transgression: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
Animosity: strong dislike, opposition, or anger
Extinguish: to stop a fire or a light burning:
5:65
And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allah , We would have removed from them their misdeeds and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure.
5:66
And if only they had acted according to the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), and what has (now) been sent down to them from their Lord (the Quran), they would surely have gotten provision from above them and from underneath their feet. There are from among them people who are on the right course (i.e. they act on the revelation and believe in Prophet Muhammad like ‘Abdullah bin Salam), but many of them do evil deeds.
5:67
O Messenger! Deliver the message which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, you are not doing justice to your mission. Allah will protect you from the mischief of the people. Rest assured that Allah will not let the unbelievers succeed against you.
5:68
Say, “O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.” And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.
Meaning:-
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
Grieve: to feel extremely sad, to feel or express great sadness, mourn, lament, sorrow. Feel pain or sadness.
5:69
Surely those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians whoever believes in Allah and the last day and does good– they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve.
Meaning:-
Grieve: Grieve: to feel extremely sad, to feel or express great sadness, mourn, lament, sorrow. Feel pain or sadness.
5:70
Certainly We took a covenant from the Children of Israel and sent them messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with a message that did not suit their fancies, either they called him an impostor or they put him to death.
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee, pledge, promise.
Fancies: imagination, believe or fantasy, a mental image or conception:
Impostor: a person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others, especially for fraudulent gain.
5:71
They thought no affliction would follow; so they acted blind and deaf. Yet Allah, in extreme mercy, accepted their repentance, but again many acted blind and deaf towards the message of Allah. Allah is observant of their actions.
Meaning:-
Affliction: (of a problem or illness) cause pain or suffering to; affect or trouble.
Observant: paying strict attention, quick to notice things or perceive.
5:72
They have certainly disbelieved who say, ” Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” while the Messiah has said, “O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord.” Indeed, he who associates others with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
refuge:-: shelter, protection, safety, security, asylum,
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
5:73
Certainly they are unbelievers who say: “Allah is one of three in a Trinity.” There is no god except One Allah. If they do not stop saying what they say, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them.
Meaning:-
Trinity: the Christian Godhead as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
5:74
So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
5:75
The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them the signs; then look how they are deluded.
Meaning:-
Delude: mislead, deceive, fool.
5:76
Say, “Do you worship besides Allah that which holds for you no [power of] harm or benefit while it is Allah who is the Hearing, the Knowing?”
5:77
Say, “O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and strayed (themselves) from the Right Path.”
Meaning:-
Inclinations: An inclination is something you are leaning toward.
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
Stray: move idly or casually in a specified direction, move away aimlessly from a group or from the right course or place.
5:78
Those who disbelieved from among the Children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of Dawood (David) and Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary): because they disobeyed and committed excesses.
5:79
They used not to forbid each other the hateful things (which) they did; certainly evil was that which they did.
5:80
As you can see many of them are taking the side of the unbelievers. Evil is that, which their souls have sent forth for them for the Hereafter. Because they have incurred the wrath of Allah, so in punishment, they are going to live forever.
Meaning:-
Incurred: all transactions, regardless of their nature, must be recorded when they occur, to come into or acquire (some consequence, usually undesirable orinjurious):
Wrath: extreme anger
5:81
Had they believed in Allah, in the Prophet (Muhammad), and in what was revealed to him, they would have never taken unbelievers as their protecting friends instead of believers, but most of them are rebellious transgressors.
Meaning:-
Rebellious: disobedient, insubordinate.
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
5:82
Certainly you will find the most violent of people in Enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are polytheists, and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly.
Meaning:-
Enmity: a feeling or condition of hostility; hatred; ill will; animosity; antagonism
Polytheist: belief in more than one god or in many gods.
Monk: a man who has withdrawn from the world for religious reasons.
5:83
And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, “Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.
5:84
And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people.”
Meaning:-
Aspire: desire, hope for, dream of, wish for, want.
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
5:85
And for their prayer Allah has rewarded them with gardens beneath which the rivers flow to live therein forever. Such is the recompense of the righteous (who do good to others).
Meaning:-
Beneath: below; in or to a lower place, position, underneath
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
5:86
But those who disbelieved and denied Our signs – they are the companions of Hellfire.
5:87
O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like Transgressors.
Meaning:-
transgress: to go beyond the limits imposed by (a law, command, etc.); violate; infringe: to transgress the will of God.
Transgressor: a person who is actually breaking the law, to violate a law, command, offend; sin.
5:88
And eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And fear Allah , in whom you are believers.
5:89
Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] – then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be grateful.
Meaning:-
Expiation: The act of expiation is a way to atone for something you did that was wrong. It was originally used in a religious context, with expiation the way a person could gain forgiveness from a god.
5:90
O believers! Intoxicants and gambling (games of chance), dedication to stones (paying tribute to idols) and division by arrows (lottery) are the filthy works of Shaitan. so avoid it that you may be successful.
5:91
Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert:- you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?
Meaning:-
Animosity: a strong feeling of dislike or hatred : ill will or resentment tending toward active hostility : an antagonistic attitude, a strong feeling of disliking someone or something
Avert:-: .turn away (one’s eyes or thoughts).
Desist:-: to cease, as from some action or proceeding; stop
5:92
And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware. And if you turn away – then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.
5:93
There is not upon those who believe and do righteousness [any] blame concerning what they have eaten [in the past] if they [now] fear Allah and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear Allah and believe, and then fear Allah and do good; and Allah loves the doers of good.
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
Doer : the person who does something.
5:94
O believers! Allah will surely test you with game (that which is to be hunted) within the reach of your hands and spears to distinguish those who fear Him in secret. Whoever transgresses from now on will suffer a painful punishment.
Meaning:-
Spears: a weapon consisting of a pole with a sharp, usually metal, point at one end.
Distinguish: to perceive or recognize the way something differs from what’s around it.
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
5:95
O you who believe! Kill not game while you are in a state of Ihram for Hajj or ‘Umrah (pilgrimage), and whosoever of you kills it intentionally, the penalty is an offering, brought to the Ka’bah, of an eatable animal (i.e. sheep, goat, cow, etc.) equivalent to the one he killed, as adjudged by two just men among you; or, for expiation, he should feed Masakin (poor persons), or its equivalent in Saum (fasting), that he may taste the heaviness (punishment) of his deed. Allah has forgiven what happened in the past; but if anyone repeats it now, Allah will inflict Retribution on him. Allah is Mighty, Capable of Retribution.
Meaning:-

Inflict: impose something unwelcome on, to force someone or something to experience something unpleasant
Retribution: punishment, penalty, punishment especially in the hereafter.
5:96
It is lawful for you to hunt and eat seafood, as a provision for you and for travellers. But hunting on land is forbidden to you while on pilgrimage. Be mindful of Allah to Whom you all will be gathered.
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
5:97
Allah has made the Ka’bah, the Sacred House, an asylum of security and Hajj and ‘Umrah (pilgrimage) for mankind, and also the Sacred Month and the animals of offerings and the garlanded (people or animals, etc. marked with the garlands on their necks made from the outer part of the stem of the Makkah trees for their security), that you may know that Allah has knowledge of all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and that Allah is the All-Knower of each and everything.
Meaning:-
Sacred: holy, religious, spiritual.
Asylum: protection or safety, a place of rest or safety,
5:98
Know that Allah is severe in penalty and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
5:99
The Messenger’s duty is only to deliver ˹the message˺. And Allah ˹fully˺ knows what you reveal and what you conceal.
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
5:100
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Good and evil are not equal, though you may be dazzled by the abundance of evil. So be mindful of Allah, O people of understanding, that you may prosper!”
Meaning:-
dazzled: to overpower, To dim the vision of, especially to blind with intense light, If someone or something dazzles you, you are extremely impressed by their skill.
Abundance: a very large quantity of something.
Prosper: to be successful or fortunate, to become strong and flourishing
5:101
O believers! Do not ask questions about things that if revealed to you, may cause you trouble. But if you ask a question about something when the Qur’an is being revealed, it will be made known to you. Allah has pardoned that which is past; and Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.
Meaning:-
Pardoned: excuse or forgiveness for a fault, offense, or discourtesy.
Forbearing: patient, tolerant, forgiving, understanding.
5:102
A people before you indeed asked such questions, and then became disbelievers on account of them.
5:103
In no way has Allah appointed (anything) as a Bahîrah or a SaÉibah, or a Wasilah or a Ham; but the ones who have disbelieved fabricate against Allah lies, and most of them do not understand.
Meaning:-
Bahîrah or a SaÉibah, or a Wasilah or a Ham:
Just as, in the Indian subcontinent, cows, oxen and goats are set free after being consecrated either to God or to some idol or shrine or to some saintly person, and just as people consider it prohibited either to put them to work, to slaughter them or to derive any other kind of benefit from them, so the Arabs of the Jahiliyah period also let loose certain animals after consecrating them. Such animals were variously named.
Bahirah: was the name of a female camel which had already borne five young, the last of which was a male. The practice was to slit the ear of such a camel and then let her loose. Thereafter no one could ride her, use her milk, slaughter her or shear her hair. She was entitled to graze and drink water wherever she liked.
Sa’ibah: was the name of either a male or female camel which had been let loose after consecration as a mark of gratitude in fulfilment of a vow taken for either the recovery from some ailment or delivery from some danger. In the same way the female camel which had borne ten times, and each time a female, was also let loose.
Wasilah: If the first kid born to a goat was a male, it was slaughtered in the name of the deities; but if it was a female, it was kept by the owners for themselves. If twins were born and one of them was a male and the other a female goat, the male was not slaughtered but rather let loose in the name of the deities. This male goat was called wasilah.
Ham: If the young of camels in the second degree of descent had become worthy of riding they were let loose. Likewise, if ten offspring had been borne by a female camel she was also let loose, and called ham.
fabricate: invent, create, they invent it in order to deceive people.
5:104
And when it is said to them, “Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger,” they say, “Sufficient for us is that upon which we found our fathers.” Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided?
5:105
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
5:106
O believers! When death approaches any one of you, let two just men from among yourselves act as witnesses at the time of making your last will; or from the non-Muslims if you are travelling through the land and the calamity of death overtakes you. If you doubt their honesty, detain them after prayer and let them both swear by Allah: “We will not sell our testimony for any price, even to a relative, and we will not hide the testimony which we will be giving for the sake of Allah; for we shall be sinners if we do so.”
Meaning:-
Calamity: an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster.
Detain: to hold, delay.
Testimony: witness, Eye witness, evidence.
5:107
Then if it becomes known that they both have been guilty of a sin, two others shall stand up in their place from among those who have a claim against them, the two nearest in kin; so they two should swear by Allah: Certainly our testimony is truer than the testimony of those two, and we have not exceeded the limit, for then most surely we should be of the unjust.
Meaning:-
kin : relatives, relations, family (members),
Testimony: witness, Eye witness, evidence.
5:108
That is more likely that they will give testimony according to its [true] objective, or [at least] they would fear that [other] oaths might be taken after their oaths. And fear Allah and listen; and Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.

Testimony: witness, Eye witness, evidence.
Disobedient: refusing or failing to obey, insubordinate,
5:109
[Be warned of] the Day when Allah will assemble the messengers and say, “What was the response you received?” They will say, “We have no knowledge. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen”
5:110
And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour upon you and your mother: how I strengthened you with the holy spirit so you spoke to people in cradle and in old age. How I taught you the Scripture, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel. How you moulded a bird from clay—by My Will—and breathed into it and it became a ˹real˺ bird—by My Will. How you healed the blind and the lepers—by My Will. How you brought the dead to life—by My Will. How I prevented the Children of Israel from harming you when you came to them with clear proofs and the disbelievers among them said, “This is nothing but pure magic.”
Meaning:-
Cradle: an infant’s bed or crib.
5:111
And [remember] when I inspired to the disciples, “Believe in Me and in My messenger Jesus.” They said, “We have believed, so bear witness that indeed we are Muslims [in submission to Allah ].”
Meaning:
Inspired: outstanding or brilliant in a way
Disciple: apostle, follower
5:112
[And remember] when the disciples said, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, can your Lord send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven? [Jesus] said,” Fear Allah , if you should be believers.”
Meaning:-
Disciple: apostle, follower
5:113
They said, “We wish to eat from it and let our hearts be reassured and know that you have been truthful to us and be among its witnesses.”
5:114
Said Jesus, the son of Mary, “O Allah , our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.”
5:115
Allah said, “Indeed, I will sent it down to you, but whoever disbelieves afterwards from among you – then indeed will I punish him with a punishment by which I have not punished anyone among the worlds.”
5:116
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, “O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, ‘Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'” He will say, “Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
5:117
I said not to them except what You commanded me – to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.
5:118
If You should punish them – indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them – indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Meaning:-
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
5:119
Allah will say, “This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” For them are gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment.
Meaning:-
Beneath: below; in or to a lower place, position, underneath
Abide: to stay or live somewhere. : to remain or continue.
Attainment: the action or fact of achieving a goal toward which one has worked.
5:120
Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is in them; and He has power over all things.
6:1
All praise be to Allah, the One Who has created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and the light; yet the unbelievers set up equal partners with their Lord.
6:2
It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.
Meaning:-
Decree: order, command.
6:3
He is the same One Allah in both the heavens and the earth. He knows what you conceal, what you reveal and what you do.
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
6:4
Yet the reaction of the people has been that whenever a revelation came to them from their Lord , they neglected it.
Meaning:-
Neglected: to ignore or disregard, overlook, fail to heed.
6:5
For they had denied the truth when it came to them, but there is going to reach them the news of what they used to ridicule.
Meaning:-
Ridicule: make fun of, to make others joke about or laugh at someone.
6:6
Have they not seen how many generations We have destroyed before them? We had made those nations more powerful in the land than yourselves. We sent down for them abundant rain from the sky and made the rivers to flow beneath their feet: yet for their sins We destroyed them all and raised up other generations in their places.
Meaning:-
Abundant: plentiful, huge, overflowing, large quantities.
Beneath: below; in or to a lower place, position, underneath
6:7
And even if We had sent down to you, [O Muhammad], a written scripture on a page and they touched it with their hands, the disbelievers would say, “This is not but obvious magic.”
6:8
They ask: “Why has no angel been sent down to us?” Well, if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been settled at once and no respite would have been granted after that;
Meaning:-
Respite: a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant.
6:9
and if We had sent an angel, We would have certainly send him in a human form and thus involved them in the same confusion as they are in at this time.
6:10
And indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad), but their scoffers were surrounded by the very thing that they used to mock at.
Meaning:-
Mock: to laugh at someone, often by copying them in a funny but unkind way, make fun of
Scoffers: to laugh and speak about a person, speak to someone or about something in a scornfully derisive or mocking way.
6:11
O Muhammad, say: “Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who denied the truth.”
6:12
Say, “To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth?” Say, “To Allah .” He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who will lose themselves [that Day] do not believe.
Meaning:-
decreed: order, command, rule, dictate, pronounce, proclaim, ordain; direct, decide, determine
6:13
And to Him belongs whatsoever exists in the night and the day, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
6:14
Say: “Should I take as my protector anyone other than Allah, who is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Who feeds all and is fed by none?” Say: “Nay! I am commanded to be the first of those who submit to Allah in Islam and not of those who commit shirk.”
Meaning:-
shirk (Arabic) is the sin of practicing idolatry or polytheism (polytheism: the belief in or worship of more than one god), i.e. the deification or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God i.e. Allah. Literally, it means ascribing or the establishment of “partners” placed beside God.
6:15
Say: “I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day.
6:16
“On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah’s mercy; And that would be the obvious success.
Meaning:-
Averted: to turn away, prevent or ward off
6:17
And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good – then He is over all things competent.
Meaning:-
Adversity: difficulties; misfortune, hardship, distress, disaster, suffering. affliction, sorrow.
Competent: ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.
6:18
He is the Supreme Authority over His servants; and He is the Wise, the Aware.
6:19
Say, “What thing is greatest in testimony?” Say, ” Allah is witness between me and you. And this Qur’an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?” Say, “I will not testify [with you].” Say, “Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him].”
Meaning:-
Testimony: evidence in support of a fact or statement; proof.
Deitie: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
6:20
Those to whom We have given the Book know this fact as they know their own sons. In fact those who have lost their souls, will not believe.
6:21
And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoers: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
6:22
And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will gather them all together; then We will say to those who associated others with Allah , “Where are your ‘partners’ that you used to claim [with Him]?”
6:23
Then there will be no [excuse upon] examination except they will say, “By Allah , our Lord, we were not those who associated.”
6:24
See how they will lie against their own souls, and how the deities of their own inventions will leave them in the lurch.
Meaning:-
Deities: supernatural being, like a god or goddess, that is worshipped by people who believe it controls or exerts force over some aspect of the world.
Lurch: Make an abrupt, unsteady, uncontrolled movement or series of movements; stagger.
6:25
There are some of them who ˹pretend to˺ listen to your recitation ˹of the Quran˺, but We have cast veils over their hearts—leaving them unable to comprehend it—and deafness in their ears. Even if they were to see every sign, they still would not believe in them. The disbelievers would ˹even˺ come to argue with you, saying, “This ˹Quran˺ is nothing but ancient fables!”
Meaning:-
Pretend: to behave as if something is true when you know that it is not.
Veils: to hide or cover something so that you cannot see it clearly or understand it:
Comprehend : to understand something completely, to understand something completely
Fables:a short story that tells a general truth or is only partly based on fact, or literature of this type, a fictitious narrative or statement.
6:26
They themselves have turned away from the truth and also forbid other people to believe in it. With such a behavior they harm none but their own souls but they do not perceive it.
Meaning:-
Forbid: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
Perceive: become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
6:27
If you could but see when they are made to stand before the Fire and will say, “Oh, would that we could be returned [to life on earth] and not deny the signs of our Lord and be among the believers.”
6:28
In fact, they will say this because they had come to know the reality which they were concealing before. As a matter of fact even if they be sent back, they would certainly repeat the same things which they had been forbidden to do. Indeed they are liars.
Meaning:-
Concealing: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
6:29
And they say, “There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected.”
Meaning:-
Resurrect: to raise from the dead; bring to life again
6:30
If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, “Is this not the truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.” He will [then] say, “So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve.”
6:31
Those will have lost who deny the meeting with Allah , until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, “Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it,” while they bear their burdens on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.
6:32
And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah , so will you not reason?
Meaning:-
Amusement: entertainment, fun, enjoyment.
Diversion: something that takes attention away from what is happening.
6:33
We know that you, [O Muhammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allah that the wrongdoers reject
Meaning:-
wrongdoers: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
6:34
And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over [the effects of] denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words of Allah . And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.
6:35
And if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the sky to bring them a sign, [then do so]. But if Allah had willed, He would have united them upon guidance. So never be of the ignorant.
Meaning:-
Evasion: the avoiding of an argument, accusation, question, instance of escaping
Ignorant: lack of knowledge or information, unawareness of, unconsciousness of, unfamiliarity with,
6:36
Surely those who listen to Our revelations with open mind will accept the Truth. As for the dead (those with closed minds), Allah will bring them back to life, on the Day of Judgment, to be produced in His court.
6:37
And they say, “Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?” Say, “Indeed, Allah is Able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know.”
6:38
If you really want to see the signs of Allah, just look at any animal that walks upon the earth and any bird that flies in the air; they too are the communities like you. We have not left out anything from the Book in determining the courses of their lives. They all shall be gathered before their Lord.
6:39
Those who deny Our Revelations are deaf and dumb, living in many layers of darkness. Allah confounds whom He will, and guides to the Right Way whom He pleases.
Meaning:-
Confound: puzzle, to throw into confusion or disorder.
6:40
Ask them to think carefully and answer: “When you face a disaster or the last Hour approaches you, do you call for help anyone other than Allah? Answer me if you are truthful!”
Meaning:-
Disaster: a sudden or great misfortune, bringing great damage, loss, or destruction.
6:41
No, on Him Alone you will call, and forget those whom you have set up as His partners; then if He pleases, He relieves you from the affliction about which you have prayed to Him.
Meaning:
Affliction: something that causes pain or suffering, , a state of pain, distress, or grief.
6:42
Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad). And We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health with calamities so that they might believe with humility.
Meaning:-
Calamities: an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster.
6:43
Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.
6:44
When they neglected the warning they had received, then, instead of punishment, We opened the gates of every kind of prosperity for them; but just as they were rejoicing in what they were given, We suddenly seized them; lo! They were plunged into despair!
Meaning:-
Neglected: to ignore or disregard, carelessness, fail to care for properly.
Rejoicing: great joy,feel or show great joy or delight.
Plunge: drop. To dive, jump, push,
Despair: the complete loss or absence of hope.
6:45
So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah , Lord of the worlds.
Meaning:-
Eliminate: eradicate, completely remove or get rid of
6:46
Ask them: “Just think, if Allah takes away your hearing and your sight and seals up your hearts, is there any deity other than Allah who could restore them to you?” See how We present Our revelations over and over again and yet they turn away.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
6:47
Say: “Think ye, if the punishment of Allah comes to you, whether suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed except those who do wrong?
6:48
We have sent the Messengers only to give good news and to warn: then whoever believe and mend their ways shall have nothing to fear or to regret.
Meaning:-
Mend: to free a person from sin, usually through repentance and good deeds, – to free from faults or defects.
Regret: a feeling of sadness about something sad or wrong or about a mistake that you have made
6:49
But those who deny Our verses – the punishment will touch them for their defiant disobedience.
Meaning:-
Defiant: proudly refusing to obey authority.
6:50
Say: [O Muhammad], “I do not claim that I possess the treasures of Allah, or that I know the unseen nor do I claim that I am an angel. What I say is, that I follow only that which is revealed to me.” Ask them: “Are the blind and the seeing alike? Why don’t you think?”
6:51
O Muhammad, admonish with this (The Qur’an), those who have the fear of being assembled before their Lord in such a condition that there will be no one to protect them or intercede on their behalf other than Him. It may be that, by this admonition, they may become righteous.
Meaning:-
Admonish: to caution, advise, or counsel against something
Intercede:to act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty or trouble, as bypleading or petition
6:52
Do not drive away those (poor people like Bilal, Ammar and Suhaib) who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking only to gain His favor. You are in no way accountable for their deeds nor they are in any way accountable for yours. So if you drive them away you shall be counted among the wrongdoers.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
6:53
That’s how We have made some of them (poor and slaves who accepted Islam) a means for testing the others (the chiefs of Qureysh), so that they should say: “Are these the people whom Allah favors among us (the poor, indigent and low class)?” Well, does Allah not know best those who are grateful?
Meaning:-
Indigent: poor; needy.
6:54
And when those come to you who believe in Our verses, say, “Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself – indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.”
Meaning:-
Decreed: order, command, rule, dictate, pronounce, proclaim, ordain; direct, decide, determine
Ignorance: lack of knowledge, understanding, or information about something
6:55
And thus do We detail the verses, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident.
6:56
O Muhammad, tell them: “I am forbidden to worship those whom you call upon besides Allah.” Say: “I am not going to follow your wishes: if I do, I would be lost and cease to be from the rightly guided.”
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
6:57
Say, “Indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord, and you have denied it. I do not have that for which you are impatient. The decision is only for Allah . He relates the truth, and He is the best of deciders.”
6:58
Say: “If what you rush to see was in my power, the matter between you and me would have been settled long ago; but Allah knows best how to deal with wrongdoers.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
6:59
He Alone has the keys of the unseen treasures, of which no one knows except Him. He knows whatever is in the land and in the sea; there is not a single leaf that falls without His knowledge, there is neither a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry which has not been recorded in a Clear Book.
6:60
He is the One Who takes your souls at night (makes you go to sleep) and knows what you do during the day, then next day raises you up again to complete your allotted span of life. To Him you shall all return, then He will notify you of all that you have done.”
Meaning:
span: the period of time that sometimes exists or happens
6:61
He is the Irresistible (reigns supreme) over his servants and sends guardian angels over you. At length, when death approaches anyone of you, Our angels take his soul and they are not negligent in performing their duty.
Meaning:-
Irresistible: too powerful or convincing to be resisted.
6:62
Then those souls are brought back to Allah, their real Master. Beware! He is the Judge and He is the swiftest in settling accounts.
Meaning:-
Swift: happening quickly or promptly.
6:63
Say (O Muhammad): “Who rescues you from the darkness of the land and the sea (dangers like storms), when you call upon Him in humility and in secret (saying): If He (Allah) only saves us from this (danger), we shall truly be grateful.”
Meaning:-
Rescue: save (someone) from a dangerous or distressing situation. to bring (someone or something) out of danger, attack or harm.
6:64
Say, “˹Only˺ Allah rescues you from this and any other distress, yet you associate others with Him ˹in worship˺.”
Meaning:-
Rescue: save (someone) from a dangerous or distressing situation. to bring (someone or something) out of danger, attack or harm.
distress: extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.
associate: to join as a partner, companion, Joined with another or others and having equal or nearly equal status.
6:65
Say: “He has the power to send calamities on you from above and from below or to split you into discordant factions to make you taste the violence of one another. See how We present Our revelations over and over again so that they may understand the reality.
Meaning:-
Calamities: an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disaster.
6:66
But your people have denied it while it is the truth. Say, “I am not over you a manager.”
6:67
For every news there is a fact, i.e. for everything there is an appointed term (and it is also said that for every deed there is a recompense) and you will come to know.
6:68
And when you come across those who ridicule Our revelations, do not sit with them unless they engage in a different topic. Should Satan make you forget, then once you remember, do not ˹continue to˺ sit with the wrongdoing people.
Meaning:
Ridicule: unkind words, mockery, humiliate or make fun of them.
6:69
And those who fear Allah are not held accountable for the disbelievers at all, but [only for] a reminder – that perhaps they will fear Him.
6:70
And leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with the Qur’an, lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allah no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.
Meaning:-
Amusement: entertainment, fun, enjoyment.
Diversion: something that takes attention away from what is happening.
Delude: to mislead the mind or judgment of; deceive:
Intercessor: intervene on behalf of another, advocate.
Scalding: very hot; burning.
6:71
Say: Shall we call on that besides Allah, which does not benefit us nor harm us, and shall we be returned back on our heels after Allah has guided us, like him whom the Shaitans have made to fall down perplexed in the earth? He has companions who call him to the right way, (saying): Come to us. Say: Surely the guidance of Allah, that is the (true) guidance, and we are commanded that we should submit to the Lord of the worlds.
Meaning:-
Perplexed: full of uncertainty, confused or puzzled.
6:72
And to establish prayer and fear Him.” And it is He to whom you will be gathered.
6:73
It is He Who has created the heavens and the earth in truth, and on the Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) He will say: “Be!”, – and it shall become. His Word is the truth. His will be the dominion on the Day when the trumpet will be blown. All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. He is the All-Wise, Well-Aware (of all things).
Meaning:-
Dominion: mastery, control, command, power, authority.
6:74
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said to his father Azar, “Do you take idols as deities? Indeed, I see you and your people to be in manifest error.”
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
Manifest: to make clear or obvious to the eye or mind or the understanding; show plainly
6:75
We showed Ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth , as We show you with examples from nature, so he became one of the firm believers.
6:76
So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star. He said, “This is my lord.” But when it set, he said, “I like not those that disappear.”
6:77
And when he saw the moon rising, he said, “This is my lord.” But when it set, he said, “Unless my Lord guides me, I will surely be among the people gone astray.”
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
6:78
And when he saw the sun rising, he said, “This is my lord; this is greater.” But when it set, he said, “O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah .
6:79
Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah .”
Meaning:
inclining: to lean, bend, feel willing or favorably disposed toward (an action, belief, or attitude).
6:80
And his people argued with him. He said, “Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. My Lord encompasses all things in knowledge; then will you not remember?
Meaning:-
Encompass: surround and have or hold within.
6:81
And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know?
6:82
They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice – those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.
6:83
This was the argument which We furnished Ibrahim (Abraham) against his people. We exalt in ranks whom We please; surely your Lord is Wise, Aware.
Meaning:-
Exalt: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
6:84
We gave him Ishaq (Isaac) and Ya’qoob (Jacob) and guided them all as We guided Nuh (Noah) before them, and among his descendants were Dawood (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayub (Job), Yusuf (Joseph), Musa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron); thus do We reward those who do good to others.
6:85
Other descendants include Zakariya, Yahya (John), Isa (Jesus), and Ilyas (Elias); all of them were righteous;
Meaning:-
Righteous: (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous, very good; excellent.
6:86
and Isma`il (Ishmael), Al-Yas’a (Elisha), Yunus (Jonah) and Lut (Lot). We exalted every one of them over the worlds
Meaning:-
Exalt: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
6:87
And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers – and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path.
6:88
That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.
6:89
Such were the people to whom We gave the Book, wisdom and Prophethood. Now if these people deny this guidance, it does not matter; We would bestow this guidance upon other people who would not disbelieve.
Meaning:-
Bestow: an honor, right, an honor, to present as a gift
6:90
O Muhammad, those were the people who were rightly guided by Allah, therefore, follow their guidance and tell these people: “I am not asking you any compensation for this work of delivering the Message to you, this message is nothing but a reminder to all the worlds.”
6:91
And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal when they said, ” Allah did not reveal to a human being anything.” Say, “Who revealed the Scripture (Torah) that Moses brought as light and guidance to the people? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taught that which you knew not – neither you nor your fathers.” Say, ” Allah [revealed it].” Then leave them in their [empty] discourse, amusing themselves.
Meaning:-
Concealing: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
6:92
And this is a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it (the Quran), and they are maintaining their prayers.
Meaning:-
Mother of Cities: “The Mother of Cities” is an honorary title given to the city of Mecca because of its great religious significance as the home of Allah’s first house of worship ever built on earth, and perhaps because of its central location as well.
6:93
And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or says, “It has been inspired to me,” while nothing has been inspired to him, and one who says, “I will reveal [something] like what Allah revealed.” And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands, [saying], “Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation for what you used to say against Allah other than the truth and [that] you were, toward His verses, being arrogant.”
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
Overwhelming: to overpower or overcome, especially with superior forces; destroy; crush, or to cover or bury beneath a mass of something, as floodwaters, debris.
Pang: a sudden sharp pain or painful emotion.
arrogant: a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
6:94
Allah adds to what the angels said, “So you have come back to Us Alone as We created you at the first time, leaving behind all that which We gave you in that world and We don’t see with you your intercessors, whom you claimed to be Allah’s partners in your affairs; all your ties have been cut off and what you presumed has failed you.”
Meaning:-
Intercessors: intervenes on behalf of another, advocate.
Presume: to believe something to be true because it is very likely, although you are not certain
6:95
Surely it is Allah Who causes the seed and the fruit-stone to split and sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. It is Allah, Who does all this; then why are you being misled?
Meaning:-
Sprout: to begin to grow; shoot forth, as a plant from a seed.
6:96
He causes the daybreak from the dark. He makes the night for rest and makes the rising and setting of the sun and the moon for you to determine times ( days, weeks, months and years), these are the arrangements of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
6:97
It is He Who has set the stars for you, so that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land and the sea. We have (indeed) explained in detail Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, Revelations, etc.) for people who know.
6:98
He is the One Who has created you from a single soul and granted you dwelling on Earth and a resting place in the hereafter. We have spelled out Our revelation (this Quran) very clearly for people of understanding.
Dwelling: Place of shelter to live in; place of residence.
6:99
It is He Who sends down water (rain) from the sky, and with it We bring forth vegetation of all kinds, and out of it We bring forth green stalks, from which We bring forth thick clustered grain. And out of the date-palm and its spathe come forth clusters of dates hanging low and near, and gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety and taste). Look at their fruits when they begin to bear, and the ripeness thereof. Verily! In these things there are signs for people who believe.
6:100
Yet they make the Jinns equals with Allah, though Allah did create the Jinns; and they falsely, having no knowledge, attribute to Him sons and daughters. Praise and glory be to Him! (for He is) above what they attribute to Him!
Meaning:-
Falsely: in a way that is not true, not true or accurate; especially : deliberately untrue
attribute: associate with, any of the essential qualifications of God.
6:101
[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.
6:102
That is Allah your Lord! There is no god but Him, the creator of everything. Therefore, worship Him, He is the Guardian of everything.
6:103
No vision can grasp Him while He grasps all visions. He is the Subtle, the Aware.
Meaning:-
Subtle: difficult to perceive or understand
6:104
Now there have come to you clear proofs from your Lord to open your eyes. Therefore, anyone who will open his eyes, it is good for his own soul and anyone who will play blind, it is to his own harm, and I am the Prophet, not assigned as a keeper over you.
6:105
And so We vary our signs to the extent that they will say, “You have studied ˹previous scriptures˺,” and We make this ˹Quran˺ clear for people who know.
Meaning:
Vary: to differ in some way from something or someone else.
6:106
Follow, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord – there is no deity except Him – and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
6:107
But if Allah had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them.
6:108
And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do.
Meaning:
fair-seeming: to suit their deeds.
6:109
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, “The signs are only with Allah.” And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe.
Meaning:-
Perceive: become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
6:110
And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away (from guidance), as they refused to believe therein for the first time, and We shall leave them in their trespass to wander blindly.
Meaning:-
Trespass: sin, wrong, wrongdoing, crime, offense, misdeed, error.
Wander: to walk around without any clear purpose or direction or aimless way.
6:111
Even if We had sent to them the angels, made the dead speak to them, and presented all the different things of the world before them as proof, they would have not believed, unless Allah wanted otherwise (and forcing someone to believe is not what He wants): Yet most of them act out of ignorance.
Meaning:-
Ignorance: lack of knowledge or information, unawareness of, unconsciousness of, unfamiliarity with,
6:112
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy – devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.
Meaning:-
Decorative: intended to be attractive rather than useful.
Delusion: misconception, misunderstanding, mistake, error, misinterpretation, misbelief;
6:113
And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.
Meaning:-
incline: feel willing or favorably disposed toward (an action, belief, or attitude).
6:114
[Say], “Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?” And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.
6:115
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
6:116
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but falsifying.
Meaning:-
Falsifying: untruthfully; misrepresent.
6:117
In fact, your Lord knows best those people who have strayed from His Way and He knows best those who are on the Right Way.
Meaning:-
Strays:go beyondthe proper limits, especially without a fixed course or purpose; ramble
6:118
So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses.
6:119
Why should you not eat that on which Allah’s name has been pronounced, when He has clearly spelled out for you in detail what is forbidden – except in a case of extreme helplessness? In fact, many do mislead people by their appetites unchecked by knowledge. Your Lord knows best those who transgress.
Meaning:-
Forbidden: refuse to allow (something), prohibit, not allowed, banned.
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
6:120
Leave (O mankind, all kinds of) sin, open and secret. Verily, those who commit sin will get due recompense for that which they used to commit.
6:121
And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience. And indeed do the devils inspire their allies [among men] to dispute with you. And if you were to obey them, indeed, you would be associators [of others with Him].
6:122
Can those who had been dead (ignorant), to whom We gave life and a light with which they can walk among people, be compared to those in complete darkness (polytheism and hypocrisy) from which they can never come out? That is how the misdeeds of the disbelievers have been made appealing to them.
Meaning:-
ignorant: lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated. lack of knowledge, understanding, or information about something.
Polytheists: The worship of or belief in more than one god, belief in many gods
hypocrisy: pretending to be what you are not, or pretending to believe something that you do not.
6:123
and that is why in every town We have placed the criminals as their ring leaders to plot therein, they plot against none but their own souls, though they do not perceive it.
Meaning:-
Ring leader: the leader of a group of people who are doing something harmful or illegal
Perceive: become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
6:124
Whenever there comes to them a sign (verses of The Qur’an) they say: “We shall not believe until we are given directly that which is given to the messengers of Allah.” Allah knows best to whom He should give His Message. Soon these criminals will be overtaken by humiliation and by a severe punishment from Allah for their evil plots.
6:125
So whoever Allah wants to guide – He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide – He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe.
Meaning:-
Constricted:narrowed, especially by encircling pressure, to stultify, stop, or cause to falter.
Defilement: to make impure or unclean, to make foul, dirty.
6:126
And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

6:127
For them will be the Home of Peace with their Lord. And He will be their protecting friend because of what they used to do.
6:128
On the Day when He will assemble them all together, ( Allah will address the Jinns): “O assembly of Jinns! You misled humans in great numbers.” And their human associates will say, “Our Lord! We benefited from each other’s company, but now we have reached the term which You appointed for us.” ˹Then˺ He will say, “The Fire is your home, yours to stay in forever, except whoever Allah wills to spare.” Surely your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
Meaning:-
Spare: to prevent someone from experiencing an unpleasant, painful, or embarrassing situation or feeling.
6:129
That is how, in the hereafter, We will make wrongdoers the comrades of one another on account of what they earned during their life on Earth with evil friendship.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
Comrades: a person who shares in one’s activities, occupation, etc.; companion, associate, or friend.
6:130
˹Allah will ask,˺ “O assembly of jinn and humans! Did messengers not come from among you, proclaiming My revelations and warning you of the coming of this Day of yours?” They will say, “We confess against ourselves!” For they have been deluded by ˹their˺ worldly life. And they will testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.
Meaning:-
assembly: a group of people gathered together in one place for a common purpose.
Proclaim: to announce or declare in an official or formal manner.
Deluded: believing things that are not real or true, believing things that are not real or true.
6:131
This ˹sending of the messengers˺ is because your Lord would never destroy a society for their Wrongdoer while its people are unaware ˹of the truth˺.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
6:132
And for all are degrees from what they have done. And your Lord is not unaware of what they do.
