Surely mankind is in loss, 103:2
Except for those who have believed and done good deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. 103:3
Those who conceal the clear proofs and the guidance, after We have made it clear in the Book for mankind, will have Allah’s curse and that of those who are entitled to curse;
O mankind! Call to mind the favors of Allah on you; is there any other creator than Allah who provides for you from the heavens and the earth? There is no god but Him. How then are you being deceived?

To Musa (Moses) We gave the Book (Torah) and sent after him other messengers in succession; then We gave Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear Signs and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit (Gabriel). Meaning:-
Impostor: a person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others, especially for fraudulent gain.
After them We sent other Messengers, one after the other, and followed them with Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam. We gave him The Injeel (Gospel), and put compassion and mercy into the hearts of his followers. As for monasticism, they instituted it themselves – for We did not enjoin it on them – in order to seek the good pleasure of Allah, but they did not observe it as it should have been observed. Yet We rewarded those among them who were true believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.

Say (O Muhammad): “None can protect me from Allah’s punishment (if I were to disobey Him), nor should I find refuge except in Him. 72:22
My mission is only to deliver what I receive from Allah and make His messages known. As for those who disobey Allah and His Messenger, they shall be put in the fire of hell to live therein forever.” 72:23
Meaning:-

surely their Lord on that Day shall have full knowledge about them. 100:11

We send down rain from the sky in perfect measure, causing it to soak into the earth. And We are surely able to take it away.
We send the fertilizing winds and send down water from the sky for you to drink; it is not you who hold the storage of this wealth.
He is the One Who sends the winds bearing good news of His blessings, so when they lift up heavy clouds, We drive them along to a dead countryside and make the rain fall upon it and bring forth all kinds of fruits from the same dead land. Likewise We will raise the dead to life; this example is given so that you may learn a lesson from this observation.
He sends down water from the skies and each channel starts flowing according to its measure, and then the torrent bears a swelling foam – like the scum which appears from metal which are melted in the furnace for making ornaments and utensils. Is it you who send it down from the clouds or are We the sender? 56:69
If it be Our Will, We could turn it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 56:70
Say (O Muhammad): “Have you ever considered that if all the water you have, sink down in the ground, who is it, that will bring you the clear-flowing water?”
And likewise, to many of the polytheists their partners have made [to seem] pleasing the killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion in their religion. When We said to the angels “Prostrate yourselves before Adam”, they all prostrated themselves except Iblees (Shaitan),: who refused. 20:116
Then We said: “O Adam! This Shaitan is a real enemy to you and to your wife. Do not let him get you both out of Paradise and get you in trouble. 20:117
Here in Paradise you shall go neither hungry nor naked; 20:118
“Nor to suffer from thirst, nor from the sun’s heat.” 20:119
Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered to him, saying : “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?” 20:120
They both end up eating the fruit of the forbidden tree. As a result their private parts became apparent to them and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves from the Garden. Thus did Adam disobey His Lord and go astray. 20:121
Later on Adam repented and his Lord chose him, accepted his repentance and gave him guidance, 20:122

“So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him.” 15:29
So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 15:30
Except Iblis (Satan), – he refused to be among the prostrators. 15:31
(Allah) said: “O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?” 15:32
[Iblis (Satan)] said: “I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud.” 15:33

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam’s loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes! We testify,” lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: “Verily, we have been unaware of this.” 7:172

[ Allah ] said, “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?” [Satan] said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.” 7:12
[ Allah ] (Allah) said: “(O Iblis) get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced.” 7:13
[Satan] said, “Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.” 7:14
Allah said: “The respite you requested is hereby granted.” 7:15
[Satan] said, “Since You let me deviate, now I will lie in ambush for mankind on Your Right Way 7:16
Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You].” 7:17
(Allah) said (to Iblis) “Get out from this (Paradise) disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely I will fill Hell with you all.” 7:18
Allah said: “O Adam! Dwell with your wife in paradise and eat any fruit you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become wrongdoers.” 7:19
But Shaitan tempted them so that he might reveal to them the private parts of their bodies which they had never seen before. He told them: “Your Lord has forbidden you to approach this tree only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals.” 7:20

So Shaitan made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?” 7:22
They said, “Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” 7:23
(Allah) said: “Get down, one of you an enemy to the other [i.e. Adam, Hawwa (Eve), and Shaitan (Satan), etc.]. On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment, – for a time.” 7:24
[ Allah ] said, “Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth.” 7:25
O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness – that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember. 7:26
O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe. 7:27
And when they commit an immorality, they say, “We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it.” Say, “Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?” 7:28
Say, [O Muhammad], “My Lord has ordered justice and that you maintain yourselves [in worship of Him] at every place [or time] of prostration, and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion.” Just as He originated you, you will return [to life] – 7:29
A group [of you] He guided, and a group deserved [to be in] error. Indeed, they had taken the devils as allies instead of Allah while they thought that they were guided. 7:30

And He has sent down for you of cattle eight pairs (of the sheep, two, male and female; of the goats, two, male and female; of the oxen, two, male and female; and of the camels, two, male and female). He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation in three veils of darkness, such is Allah your Lord. His is the kingdom, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). How then are you turned away? 39:6
If you disbelieve, then verily, Allah is not in need of you, He likes not disbelief for His slaves. And if you are grateful (by being believers), He is pleased therewith for you. Chapter:2 to Verse:31 to 39
He taught Adam the nature of all things; then He presented the things to the angels and said: “Tell Me the nature of those if what you say is true?” (Allah did this to show Adam’s special qualities of learning and memory). 2:31
“Glory to You,” they replied, “we have no knowledge except what You have taught us: in fact You are the One who is perfect in knowledge and wisdom.” 2:32
He said: “O Adam! tell them their natures.” When he had told them Allah said: “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth and I know what ye reveal and what ye conceal?” 2:33
when we ordered the angels: “Prostrate before Adam in respect,” they all prostrated except Iblees (Shaitan) who refused in his arrogance and became a disbeliever. 2:34
To Adam We said: “Dwell with your wife in Paradise and eat anything you want from its bountiful food from wherever you wish, but do not approach this tree, or you shall both become transgressors.” 2:35
But Shaitan tempted them with the tree to disobey Allah’s commandment and caused them to be expelled from Paradise, and We said: “Get out from here, some of you being enemies to others, and there is for you in the earth an abode and provisions for a specified period.” 2:36
Then Adam received appropriate words from his Lord and repented, and Allah accepted his repentance . Surely Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful 2:37
“Get out from here all of you,” We said at the time of Adam’s departure from Paradise. “There will come to you a guidance from Me, those who accept and follow it shall have nothing to fear or to regret. 2:38

Chapter:2 to Verse:6 to 9
Indeed, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. 2:6
Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment 2:7
There are some people who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day” yet they are not true believers. 2:8
They try to deceive Allah and the believers. However, they deceive none except themselves yet they do not realize it. 2:9

Chapter:2 to Verse:3, 4 & 5
Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out (charity) of what We have provided for them, 2:3
And who believe in (the Quran) what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. 2:4
Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. 2:5
Chapter:2 Verse: 28 to 30
How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned. 2:28
It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things. 2:29
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” 2:30
Meaning:-
Sanctify: dedicate to God
Chapter:2 Verse: 21 to 27
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous –2:21
[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. 2:22
And if you doubt any part of what We have bestowed from on high, step by step, upon Our servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah of similar merit, and call upon any other than God to bear witness for you – if what you say is true! 2:23
But if you are unable to do so, and you can never do so, then fear the Hell fire, whose fuel is men and stones which is prepared for the unbelievers. 2:24
Give glad tidings to those who believe in this Book and do good deeds in accordance with its teachings for them there will be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they will be given fruits to eat they will say: “This is similar to the one we used to eat before on earth,” for the fruits will resemble the fruits on the earth for their easy identification and enjoyment; and for them there will be chaste virgin spouses, and they shall live therein forever. 2:25
Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, “What did Allah intend by this as an example?” He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient, 2:26
Those who break Allah’s Covenant after accepting it, and who cut aside what Allah has ordered to be united and cause corruption on earth. It is they who are the losers. 2:27

Chapter 2 – verse 2 to 21
This is the Book (the QURAN) about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah 2:2
Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, 2:3
And who believe in (the QURAN) what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. 2:4
Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. 2:5
Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.
There is a disease of deception in their heart; and Allah lets their disease increase, and they shall have painful punishment for the lies they have told. 2:10
And when it is said to them, “Do not cause corruption on the earth,” they say, “We are but peace-makers.” 2:11
Be aware! They are the ones who make mischief but they do not realize it. 2:12
When it is said to them: “Believe as the others believe” they sarcastically ask: “Should we believe like fools?” Be aware! They themselves are the fools, if only they could understand. 2:13
When they meet those who believe, they say: “We believe;” but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: “We are really with you: We (were) only jesting.” 2:14
Allah will throw back their mockery on them and leave them alone in their trespasses; so they wander to and fro like blind. 2:15
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided. 2:16
Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see. 2:17
Deaf, dumb and blind – so they will not return [to the right path]. 2:18
Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But Allah is encompassing of the disbelievers. 2:19
The lightning almost snatches away their sight. Every time it lights [the way] for them, they walk therein; but when darkness comes over them, they stand [still]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. 2:20

Khawla bint Tha’labah
Khawla bint Tha’labah was a great woman who enjoyed very high standing among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who were her contemporaries and knew her virtues.
Khawla exemplified patience while standing firm in her beliefs. She persevered until she got the truth. She wanted to stand up for her rights and rights of women, while maintaining her love for her husband. She maintained her high standing through time, and people, including the stature of ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the second caliph, paid attention to what she had to say.
The story of Khawla bint Tha’labah and her husband Aws ibn al-Samit is narrated by Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud and quoted by Ibn Kathir in his tafsir at the beginning of Surat al-Mujadilah.
Khawla said:
“By Allah, concerning me and Aws ibn al-Samit, Allah revealed the beginning of Surat al-Mujadilah. I was married to him, and he was an old man who was bad-tempered. One day, he came in and I raised a particular issue with him again. He became angry and said, ‘You are to me as the back of my mother.’ Then he went out and sat for a while in the meeting-place of his people. Then he came back, and wanted to resume marital relations with me. I said, ‘No way! By the hand of the One in Whose hand is the soul of Khuwayla (i.e., Khawla), you will never get what you want from me after saying what you said, until Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) decide between us.’ He tried to force himself on me, but I was able to resist because I was a young woman and he was a weak old man. I pushed him away. Then I went to one of my (female) neighbors and borrowed a cloak from her and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). I sat before him, told him what my husband had done to me, and began to complain to him about my sufferings because of my husband’s bad temper. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, ‘O Khuwayla, your cousin is an old man, so fear Allah with regard to him.’ I did not leave him until Qur’an was revealed concerning me. He was overcome as he usually was when Qur’an was revealed to him, and when it was over, he said: ‘O Khuwayla, Allah has revealed Qur’an concerning you and your husband.’ Then he recited to me:
[Allah has indeed heard (and accepted) the statement of the woman who pleads with you concerning her husband and carries her complaint (in prayer) to Allah: and Allah (always) hears the arguments between both sides among you: for Allah hears and sees (all things). If any men among you divorce their wives by zihar (calling them their ‘mothers’), they cannot be their mothers. None can be their mothers except those who gave them birth. And in fact they use words (both) iniquitous and false: but truly Allah is One that blots out (sins), and forgives (again and again). But those who divorce their wives by zihar, then wish to go back on the words they uttered – it is ordained that such a one should free a slave before they touch each other: this are you admonished to perform. And Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that you do. And if any has not the wherewithal, he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones. This, that you may show your faith in Allah and His Messenger, those are limits (set by) Allah. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty.] (Qur’an 58:1-4)
He told me, ‘Let him release a slave.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he does not have the means to do that.’ He said, ‘Then let him fast for two consecutive months.’ I said, ‘By Allah, he is an old man, he is not able to do that.’ He said, ‘Then let him feed sixty poor people with a wasq of dates.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, he does not have that much.’ He said, ‘Then we will help him with a faraq of dates.’ I said, ‘And I will help him with another faraq, O Messenger of Allah .’ He said, ‘You have done right and done well. Go and give it in charity on his behalf, then take care of your cousin properly.’ And I did so.”
Khawla bint Tha’labah could not bear to stay for one moment with her husband after he had spoken the words of zihar to her, which was a form of divorce at the time of ignorance, until she had referred the matter to the Prophet (peace be upon him), so that she might know how Allah would judge between her and her husband. She did not even have a suitable garment with which to go out and appear before the Prophet (peace be upon him), so she borrowed a robe from one of her neighbors, and rushed to where the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sitting, so that she
