O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.

Have you not seen those who claim that they believe in what has been revealed to you and other prophets before you? Yet they desire that the judgment (in their disputes) be made by Taghut (forces of Shaitan) though they were commanded to reject them, and Shaitan’s wish is to lead them far astray into deep error.
Meaning:-

4:61
When it is said to them: “Come to be judged by the messenger in accordance with what Allah has revealed, ” you see that the hypocrites show their utmost hesitation in coming to you.
Meaning:-
Hypocrite:a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially aperson whose actions belie stated beliefs.
4:62
So how [will it be] when disaster strikes them because of what their hands have put forth and then they come to you swearing by Allah , “We intended nothing but good conduct and accommodation.”
4:63
They (hypocrites) are those of whom Allah knows what is in their hearts; so turn aside from them (do not punish them) but admonish them, and speak to them an effective word (i.e. to believe in Allah, worship Him, obey Him, and be afraid of Him) to reach their innerselves.
Meaning:-
Hypocrite:a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
Admonish: to caution, advise, or counsel against something.
4:64
We did not send any messenger but to be obeyed by Allah’s leave. If they would have come to you when they had wronged themselves to seek Allah’s forgiveness and if the messenger had also asked Allah’s forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Forgiving, Merciful.
4:65
But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission.
4:66
If We had commanded them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it. Yet, if they would have done what they were commanded to do, it would have been better for them; not only would their faith have been strengthened,
4:67
And then We would have given them from Us a great reward.
4:68
And We would have guided them to a straight path.
Meaning:-
Path: a way, a course of action, conduct, or procedure:
4:69
Whosoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those whom Allah has blessed – the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous: What excellent companions they will be!
Meaning:-
Martyrs: a person who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs
4:70
This is the real grace from Allah and sufficient is Allah’s infinite knowledge.
Meaning:-
Infinite: limitless or endless in space, extent, or size; impossible to measure or calculate.
4:71
O believers! Prepare yourselves for encounter, then advance in detachments or all together as the occasion may require..
Meaning:-
Detachment: as from worldly affairs or from the concerns of others.
4:72
And indeed, there is among you he who lingers behind; and if disaster strikes you, he says, ” Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them.”
Meaning:-
Linger: to remain alive; continue or persist, although gradually dying, ceasing,disappearing, etc.:
4:73
But if bounty comes to you from Allah , he will surely say, as if there had never been between you and him any affection. “Oh, I wish I had been with them so I could have attained a great attainment.”
Meaning:-
Bounty: generosity; liberality, a monetary gift or reward.
4:74
So let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory – We will bestow upon him a great reward.
4:75
And what reason do you have not to fight in the cause of Allah, to rescue the helpless oppressed old men, women, and children who are crying: “Our Lord! Deliver us from this town whose people are oppressors; send us a protector by Your grace and send us a helper from Your presence?”
Meaning:-
Oppress: keep (someone) in subservience and hardship, especially by the unjust exercise of authority.
4:76
Those who are believers fight in the cause of Allah and those who are unbelievers fight in the cause of Taghut (forces of Shaitan): so fight against the helpers of Shaitan; surely, Shaitan’s crafty schemes are very weak.
Meaning:-
Crafty: clever at achieving one’s aims by indirect or deceitful methods.
4:77
Have you not seen those who were told, “Restrain your hands [from fighting] and establish prayer and give zakah ( charity) “? But then when fighting was ordained for them, at once a party of them feared men as they fear Allah or with [even] greater fear. They said, “Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed [it for] us for a short time.” Say, The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah . And injustice will not be done to you, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed].”
Meaning:-
Restrain: prevent (someone or something) from doing something; keep under control or within limits.
4:78
Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, “This is from Allah “; and if evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you.” Say, “All [things] are from Allah .” So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?
Meaning:-
lofty: tall, high, giant, towering, skyscraping
4:79
What comes to you of good is from Allah , but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself. And We have sent you, [O Muhammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is Allah as Witness.
4:80
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah ; but those who turn away – We have not sent you over them as a guardian.
4:81
They will say: “We are at your service!” Yet when they leave you, some of them meet together secretly at night to plot against what you have said. Allah notes down all their plots. Therefore, leave them alone and put your trust in Allah. Allah is your all sufficient trustee.
4:82
Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein many contradictions.
Meaning:-
Contradiction: A difference or disagreement between two things which means that both cannot be true. A combination of statements, ideas, or features of a situation that are opposed to one another.
4:83
Whenever they hear news of peace or of danger, they spread it quickly; but if they would report it to the Messenger and to the responsible people in the community, it would come to the knowledge of those who could draw the right conclusions. If it had not been for Allah’s grace and mercy, all of you with the exception of a few, would have followed Shaitan.
4:84
Therefore, O Muhammad, fight; in the path of Allah, you are accountable for no one except for yourself. Urge the believers to fight, it may be that Allah will overthrow the might of the unbelievers, for Allah is the strongest in might and severe in punishment.
4:85
Anyone who intercedes for a good cause shall have a share in it, and anyone who intercedes for an evil cause shall also get a share in its burden. Allah has control over everything.
Meaning:-
Intercede: to attempt to reconcile differences between two people or groups; mediate. 3rd person present: intercedes
4:86
And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with one better than it or [at least] return it [in a like manner]. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant.
4:87
Allah – there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for [account on] the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
4:88
What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom Allah has sent astray? And he whom Allah sends astray – never will you find for him a way [of guidance].
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction.
Hypocrite: a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess.
4:89
They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.
Meaning:-
Ally: to associate or connect by some mutual relationship, as resemblance or friendship.
4:90
The exception to this is for those who take refuge with your allies or come over to you because their hearts restrain them both from fighting against you and from fighting against their own people. If Allah had wanted, He would have given them power over you and they might easily have fought against you; therefore, if they withdraw from you and cease their hostility and offer you peace, in that case Allah has not granted you permission to fight against them.
Meaning:-
Restrain: prevent, stop, keep, hold back; hinder, impede, hamper, restrict, constrain, obstruct;
Hostility fighting, conflict, armed conflict, combat, warfare, war, bloodshed, violence, action, military action, battles, strife.
4:91
You will find others who wish to obtain security from you and [to] obtain security from their people. Every time they are returned to [the influence of] disbelief, they fall back into it. So if they do not withdraw from you or offer you peace or restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you overtake them. And those – We have made for you against them a clear authorization.
4:92
And never is it for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake – then the freeing of a believing slave and a compensation payment presented to the deceased’s family [is required] unless they give [up their right as] charity. But if the deceased was from a people at war with you and he was a believer – then [only] the freeing of a believing slave; and if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty – then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. And whoever does not find [one or cannot afford to buy one] – then [instead], a fast for two months consecutively, [seeking] acceptance of repentance from Allah . And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
4:93
But whoever kills a believer intentionally – his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.
Meaning:-
Abide: to remain; continue; stay
Eternally: without beginning or end; lasting forever
4:94
O believers! When you struggle (to fight) in the way of Allah, investigate carefully, and do not say to anyone who offers you a salutation: “You are not a believer” in order to seek worldly gain by this. Allah has abundant spoils for you. Remember that you yourselves were in the same condition before, Allah has conferred His favors on you. Therefore, make a thorough investigation before considering someone an unbeliever. Allah is well aware of all your actions.
Meaning:-
Abundant: existing or available in large quantities; plentiful.
salutation:a gesture or utterance made as a greeting
spoils: goods, advantages, profits, etc. that you get by your actions or because of your position or situation: The spoils of victory/war included mounds of treasure and Armour.
4:95
Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward;
4:96
Degrees [of high position] from Him and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
4:97
When the angels of death cause those people to die who have wronged their souls, they ask: “What was your condition?” They reply: “We were oppressed in the earth.” The angels say: “Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate and go somewhere else?” Hell will be their abode and it is a very evil refuge!
Meaning:-
oppress: persecute, abuse, maltreat, ill-treat, tyrannize, crush, repress, suppress, subjugate,
Abide: to remain; continue; stay
4:98
however, those helpless men, women and children who have neither the means to migrate nor strength to escape,
4:99
For those it is expected that Allah will pardon them, and Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.
4:100
He who emigrates in the path of Allah shall find numerous places of refuge in the Earth and abundant resources. He who leaves his home to migrate for Allah and His Messenger and dies on the way, his reward becomes due and sure with Allah. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Meaning:-
Abundant: existing or available in large quantities; plentiful.
4:101
And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the prayer, [especially] if you fear that those who disbelieve may disrupt [or attack] you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy.
4:102
When you, O Muhammad, are with them, leading their Salah (prayer in the state of war), let one party of them stand up to pray with you, armed with their weapons. After they finish their prostrations, let them withdraw to the rear and let the other party who have not yet prayed come forward to pray with you; and let them also be on their guard, armed with their weapons. The unbelievers wish to see you neglect your arms and your baggage, so that they could suddenly attack to overpower you all in one stroke. However, there is no blame on you if you lay aside your arms because of heavy rain or because you are sick, but you should still be on your guard. Allah has prepared a humiliating punishment for the unbelievers.
4:103
When you finish your Salah (prayers) remember Allah whether you are standing, sitting or reclining; then as soon as you are safe (out of danger) establish regular Salah (prayers) in full. Surely Salah (prayers) are made obligatory for the believers at their prescribed times.
4:104
Do not show weakness in following up the enemy; if you are suffering hardships they too are suffering similar hardships; moreover, you have hope to receive reward from Allah while they have none. Allah is the Knowledgeable, Wise.
4:105
We have revealed to you the Book with the Truth so that you may judge between people in accordance with the Right Way which Allah has shown you, so be not an advocate for those who betray trust;
Meaning:-
Betray: to be unfaithful in guarding, maintaining, or fulfilling:
4:106
And seek forgiveness of Allah . Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
4:107
And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Indeed, Allah loves not one who is a habitually sinful deceiver.
4:108
They might be able to hide their crimes from people, but they cannot hide from Allah. He is with them even when they plot by night in words that He cannot approve. Allah encompasses all their actions.
Meaning:-
Encompass: surround and have or hold within.
4:109
Here you are – those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life – but who will argue with Allah for them on the Day of Resurrection, or who will [then] be their representative?
4:110
And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
4:111
And whoever commits a sin only earns it against himself. And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
4:112
But whoever earns an offense or a sin and then blames it on an innocent [person] has taken upon himself a slander and manifest sin.
Meaning:-
Slander: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation.
Manifest: to make clear or obvious to the eye or mind or the understanding; show plainly
4:113
And if it was not for the favor of Allah upon you, [O Muhammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all. And Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of Allah upon you been great.
4:114
No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah – then We are going to give him a great reward.
4:115
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers – We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
Meaning:-
Opposes: disapprove of and attempt to prevent, especially by argument.
4:116
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
4:117
They call upon instead of Him none but female [deities], and they [actually] call upon none but a rebellious Satan.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
Rebellious: disobedient, insubordinate.
4:118
on whom Allah has laid His curse; and who has said: “I will take a good portion of Your servants and mislead them.
4:119
I will create in them false desires and order them to slit the ears of cattle. I will order them to tamper with Allah’s creation.” Therefore, whoever takes Shaitan as a guardian instead of Allah, has indeed become a clear-cut loser.
Meaning:-
Slit: to cut apart or open along a line; make a long cut, fissure, or opening in.
Tamper: interfere with (something) in order to cause damage or make unauthorized alterations.
4:120
Shaitan makes promises to stir up in them false desires; but Shaitan makes them promises only to deceive them.
4:122
As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, We shall soon admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow to live therein forever. This is the promise of Allah, true indeed, and who can be truer in his words than Allah?
Meaning:-
Beneath: below; in or to a lower place, position, underneath
4:123
Paradise is not [obtained] by your wishful thinking nor by that of the People of the Scripture. Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allah a protector or a helper.
4:124
But the one who do righteous deeds, whether a male or a female – provided he or she is a believer – shall enter paradise and will not be harmed a speck.
Meaning:-
Speck: a tiny spot.
4:125
And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.
Meaning:-
Doer: the person who does something, performer.
Intimate: closely acquainted; familiar, dear, faithful.
4:126
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allah , of all things, encompassing.
Meaning:-
Encompass: surround and have or hold within.
4:127
They ask your decision concerning the women. Tell them: Allah makes His decision concerning them and along with it reminds you about those commandments, recited to you in the Book (The Qur’an), relating to orphan girls to whom you do not give their lawful rights and to whom you do not wish to marry. He also reminds you regarding the helpless children, and to stand firm for justice to orphans. Whatever good you do, Allah surely knows it.
4:128
If a women fears cruelty or desertion from her husband, there is no blame if both of them agree to reconcile by means of a compromise, after all compromise is better. Human souls are prone to narrow- mindedness, but if you show generosity and fear Allah in your dealings, surely Allah is well aware of your actions.
Meaning:-
Desertion: Law. willful abandonment, especially of one’s spouse without consent,in violation of legal or moral obligations.
Prone: lying face downward.
4:129
It is not possible for you to do justice between your wives even if you wish to do so; therefore, in order to comply with Divine Law, do not lean towards one wife to the extent that you leave the other hanging in air. If you work out a friendly understanding and fear Allah, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
4:130
If the spouses do separate, Allah will make each one independent of the other out of His own limitless resources, Allah is Amplegiving, Wise.
4:131
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And We have instructed those who were given the Scripture before you and yourselves to fear Allah . But if you disbelieve – then to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allah Free of need and Praiseworthy.
4:132
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.
4:133
If He wills, He can do away with you, O people, and bring others [in your place]. And ever is Allah competent to do that.
Meaning:-
Competent: having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.
4:134
Whoever desires the reward of this world – then with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. And ever is Allah Hearing and Seeing.
4:135
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah , even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.
Meaning:-
Persistently: Continuously, continuing to do something in determined way; continuing to exist.
Inclination: a person’s natural tendency or urge to act or feel in a particular way; a disposition or propensity.
Distort: give a misleading or false account or impression of.
Acquainted: make someone aware of or familiar with.
4:136
O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah , His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
4:137
Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief – never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way.
4:138
Give tidings to the hypocrites that there is for them a painful punishment –
Meaning:-
Tidings: news; information
Hypocrite: a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially aperson whose actions belie stated beliefs.
4:139
Those who take disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do they seek with them honor [through power]? But indeed, honor belongs to Allah entirely.
Meaning:-
Ally: to associate or connect by some mutual relationship, as resemblanceor friendship.
4:140
And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together –
Meaning:-
Ridicule: speech or action intended to cause contemptuous laughter at a personor thing; derision, make fun of.
Hypocrite: a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially aperson whose actions belie stated beliefs.
4:142
the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah , but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little,
Meaning:-
Hypocrite: a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially aperson whose actions belie stated beliefs.
4:143
Wavering between them, [belonging] neither to the believers nor to the disbelievers. And whoever Allah leaves astray – never will you find for him a way.
Meaning:-
Waver: be undecided between two opinions or courses of action; be irresolute.
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
4:144
O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allah against yourselves a clear case?
Meaning:-
Allies: someone who is ready to help you, One in helpful association with another.
4:145
Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire – and never will you find for them a helper –
Meaning:-
Hypocrite:a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess.
4:146
Except for those who repent, correct themselves, hold fast to Allah , and are sincere in their religion for Allah , for those will be with the believers. And Allah is going to give the believers a great reward.
4:147
What would Allah do with your punishment if you are grateful and believe? And ever is Allah Appreciative and Knowing.
4:148
Allah does not like that the evil should be uttered in public except by him who has been wronged. And Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Knower.
Meaning:
Evil:morally bad, cruel, or very unpleasant
uttered:to give forth (cries, notes, etc.) with the voice: to utter a sigh.
4:149
If you do good deeds openly or in private or forgive an evil, then surely Allah is Pardoning, Powerful.
Meaning:
Evil:morally bad, cruel, or very unpleasant
Pardoning: To release (a person) from punishment or disfavor for wrongdoing or a fault.
4:150
Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers and say, “We believe in some and disbelieve in others,” and wish to adopt a way in between –
Meaning:
Discriminate:Recognize a distinction; differentiate.
Adopt:to choose or take as one’s own; make one’s own by selection or assent
4:151
Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
Meaning:
Humiliating: to make someone feel ashamed or lose respect for himself or herself
4:152
But they who believe in Allah and His messengers and do not discriminate between any of them – to those He is going to give their rewards. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
4:153
The People of the Book ask you to bring down for them a book from Heaven. From Musa they demanded an even harder miracle than that. They asked him: “Make us see Allah with our own eyes.” As a result of their wickedness, the thunderbolt overtook them. Then they took the calf for worship after receiving clear revelations. After all that, We still pardoned them and gave to Musa clear authority.
Meaning:-
Wickedness: the quality of being evil or morally wrong.
Thunderbolt:something very destructive, terrible, severe, sudden, or startling.
calf: a young cow
pardon: the action of forgiving or being forgiven for an error or offence.
4:154
And We raised over them the mount for [refusal of] their covenant; and We said to them, “Enter the gate bowing humbly”, and We said to them, “Do not transgress on the sabbath
(Saturday)”, and We took from them a solemn covenant.
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee, pledge, promise.
Transgress: to violate a law, command, moral code, etc.; offend; sin.
Sabbath: the seventh day of the week, Saturday, as the day of rest and religious observance among Jews and some Christians or any special day of prayer or rest resembling the Sabbath: Friday is the Muslim Sabbath.
solemn: sincere, earnest, honest, genuine, firm, heartfelt, wholehearted, sworn
4:155
And [We cursed them] for their breaking of the covenant and their disbelief in the signs of Allah and their killing of the prophets without right and their saying, “Our hearts are wrapped”. Rather, Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee, pledge, promise.
4:156
And [We cursed them] for their disbelief and their saying against Mary a great slander,
Meaning:-
Slander: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation
4:157
And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah .” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
4:158
Nay! The fact is that Allah took him up to Himself. Allah is Mighty, Wise.
4:159
There is none of the People of the Book but will believe in this fact before his death; and on the Day of Resurrection Jesus will bear witness against them.
4:160
For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their averting from the way of Allah many [people],
Meaning:-
Averting: turn away
4:161
And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people’s wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
Meaning:-
Usury: the illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest.
4:162
But those firm in knowledge among them and the believers believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you. And the establishers of prayer [especially] and the givers of zakah and the believers in Allah and the Last Day – those We will give a great reward.
4:163
We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].
4:164
Revelations were also sent to those messengers whom We have already mentioned to you and to those whose name We have not mentioned; to Musa Allah spoke directly.
4:165
All these messengers conveyed good news to mankind and admonished them so that, after conveying the message through the messengers, people should have no excuse to plead against Allah. Allah is Mighty, Wise.
Meaning:-
Admonish: warn or reprimand someone firmly.
4:166
But Allah bears witness to that which He has revealed to you. He has sent it down with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness [as well]. And sufficient is Allah as Witness.
4:167
Indeed, those who disbelieve and avert [people] from the way of Allah have certainly gone far astray.
Meaning:-
Avert: turn away
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
4:168
Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice] – never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path.
4:169
Except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that, for Allah , is [always] easy.
Meaning:-
Path: a way, a course of action, conduct, or procedure:
Abide: to remain; continue; stay:
4:170
O Mankind, the Messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe; it is better for you. But if you disbelieve – then indeed, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth. And ever is Allah Knowing and Wise.
4:171
O people of the Scripture! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, (“Be!” – and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Ruh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: “Three (trinity)!” Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One Ilah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.
Meaning:-
“Three (trinity): Also called Blessed Trinity, Holy Trinity. the union of three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) in one Godhead, or the threefold personality of the one Divine Being.
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
4:172
The Messiah (Jesus) never disdained to be the worshipper of Allah nor do the angels who are nearest to Allah. Whosoever disdains His worship and is arrogant will be brought before Him all together.
Meaning:-
Disdain: the feeling that someone or something is unworthy of one’s consideration or respect; contempt.
4:173
And as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards and grant them extra from His bounty. But as for those who disdained and were arrogant, He will punish them with a painful punishment, and they will not find for themselves besides Allah any protector or helper.
Meaning:-
Bounty: generosity; liberality.
Disdain: the feeling that someone or something is unworthy of one’s consideration or respect; contempt.
4:174
O mankind! There has come to you convincing proof of Truth from your Lord. We have sent to you a glorious light (Al-Qur’an) that shows you the Right Way clearly.
4:175
So those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him – He will admit them to mercy from Himself and bounty and guide them to Himself on a straight path.
Meaning:-
Bounty: generosity; liberality, a monetary gift or reward.
35:1
Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth! Who appoint the angels having two, three and four pairs of wings as His messengers. He adds to His creation as He pleases; for Allah has power over all things.
35:2
Whatever of mercy (i.e.of good), Allah may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the AllMighty, the AllWise.
35:3
O mankind! Call to mind the favors of Allah on you; is there any other creator than Allah who provides for you from the heavens and the earth? There is no god but Him. How then are you being deceived?
35:4
And if they deny you, [O Muhammad] – already were messengers denied before you. And to Allah are returned [all] matters.
35:5
O mankind! Certainly the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not the life of this world deceive you nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah.
35:6
Surely Shaitan (Satan) is your enemy: so take him as an enemy. He is inviting his adherents towards his way so that they may become companions of the blazing fire.
Meaning:-
Adherent: follower, supporter, upholder, defender, advocate, disciple,
Blaze: burn fiercely or brightly.
35:7
Those who disbelieve will have a severe punishment, and those who believe and do righteous deeds will have forgiveness and great reward.
35:8
Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what they do.
Meaning:-
Astray: into error, away from the correct path or direction
Perish: to suffer destruction or ruin:, disappear
Regret: feel sad, repentant, or disappointment over something that has happened or been done.
35:9
It is Allah Who sends forth winds to raise up the clouds, then drives them to a dead land and therewith revive the earth after its death. Similar will be the resurrection of the dead.
Meaning:-
Resurrection: the rising of the dead on Judgment Day.
35:10
If anyone is seeking honor, let him know that all honor belongs to Allah Alone. Good words ascend to Him and good deeds are exalted by Him. As for those who plan evil deeds, they shall have severe punishment and their plots will be brought to nothing.
Meaning:-
Ascend: to rise to a higher point, rank, or degree
Exalted: placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard.
35:11
And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.
Meaning:-
Lifespan: the period during which something is functional (as between birth and death)
Lessen: to make less; reduce.
35:12
And the two seas (kinds of water) are not alike, this fresh sweet, and pleasant to drink, and that saltish and bitter. And from them both you eat fresh tender meat (fish), and derive the ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships cleaving (the seawater as they sail through it), that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may give thanks.
Meaning:-
Bounty: generosity; liberality, a monetary gift or reward.
35:13
He causes the night to pass into the day and the day into the night, and He has made the sun and the moon to serve you; each one follows its course for an appointed term. Such is Allah, your Lord; His is the kingdom; and those to whom you pray besides Him have not the least power.
35:14
If you pray to them they cannot hear your prayers and even if they could hear you they could not answer you. On the Day of Resurrection they will deny your associating them with Allah. O mankind! None can inform you about all this except the One Who is All-Aware.
35:15
O mankind! It is you who stands in need of Allah, and it is Allah Who is Free of all wants, Worthy of all praise.
35:16
If He wants, He can destroy you and replace you with a new creation;
35:17
and this is not at all difficult for Allah.
35:18
No bearer of a burden will bear another’s burden, and if a heavy laden person cries out for help, none will come forward to share the least of his burden, even though he be a close relative. O Prophet! You can only admonish those who fear their Lord – though they cannot see Him – and establish prayer. He that purifies himself does so for his own good. To Allah is the destination of all.
Meaning:-
Laden: to take on a load.
Admonish: to caution, advise, or counsel against something.
35:19
Not equal are the blind and the seeing,
35:20
Nor are the darknesses and the light,
35:21
Nor are the shade and the heat,
35:22
nor the living and the dead. Certainly Allah can make anyone hear if He so wills; but, O Prophet, you cannot make those who are in the graves hear you.
35:23
You, [O Muhammad], are not but a warner.
35:24
Certainly We have sent you (O Muhammad) with the Truth as a bearer of good news and as a Warner, for there has not been a nation which has not had a Warner.
35:25
And if they deny you – then already have those before them denied. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs and written ordinances and with the enlightening Scripture.
35:26
In the end did I punish those who rejected Faith: and how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)!
35:27
Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky with which We bring forth fruits of various colors? Similarly, in the mountains there are streaks of various shades including white, red, jet-black rocks.
Meaning:-
Streak: a long, thin line or mark of a different substance or color from its surroundings.
35:28
And among people and moving creatures and grazing livestock are various colors similarly. Only those fear Allah , from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Forgiving.
Meaning:-
Grazing: grassland suitable for pasturage.
Livestock: farm animals regarded as an asset.
35:29
Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah (this Quran), and perform regular Prayer and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a (sure) trade gain that will never perish.
Meaning:-
Perish: to suffer destruction or ruin:, disappear
35:30
That He may pay them back fully their rewards and give them more out of His grace: surely He is Forgiving, Multiplier of rewards.
35:31
O Prophet, what We have revealed to you of the Book (the Quran) is the Truth, which confirms the previous scriptures. Surely, with respect to His servants, Allah is well Aware and fully Observant.
35:32
Then We gave the Book (the Quran) for inheritance to such of Our slaves whom We chose (the followers of Muhammad ). Then of them are some who wrong their ownselves, and of them are some who follow a middle course, and of them are some who are, by Allah’s Leave, foremost in good deeds. That (inheritance of the Quran), that is indeed a great grace.
Meaning:-
Foremost: top level, greatest, best, supreme, outstanding, most important, most prominent, most influential, most illustrious, most notable
Inheritance: bestowal, bequest, endowment, benefaction, Birthright.
35:33
They shall enter the gardens of Eden, where they shall be decked with bracelets of gold and pearls; and their dress therein will be of silk.
35:34
And they will say, “Praise to Allah , who has removed from us [all] sorrow. Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative –
35:35
Who has admitted us to this Eternal Home out of His bounty, wherein we neither experience any toil nor sense of any weariness.”
Meaning:-
Eternal: Everlasting, never-ending, endless.
Toil: work extremely hard or incessantly.
Weariness: Physically or mentally exhausted by hard work, extreme tiredness; fatigue.
35:36
As for the disbelievers, there shall be the fire of hell, no term shall be determined for them so that they could die nor shall its punishment be ever lightened for them. Thus shall We reward every disbeliever.
35:37
Therein they shall cry for help: “Our Lord! Get us out, from now on we shall do good deeds and shall not repeat the ones we used to do”. The response will be: “Did we not give you lives long enough so that he who would, could take a warning? Besides, someone did come to warn you. Now taste the fruit of your deeds, here there is no helper for the wrongdoers.”
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
35:38
Surely Allah knows the unseen of the heavens and the earth, He even knows the secrets of the breasts (hidden thoughts of people).
35:39
He it is Who made you rulers in the land; therefore whoever disbelieves, his unbelief is against himself; and their unbelief does not increase the disbelievers with their Lord in anything except hatred; and their unbelief does not increase the disbelievers in anything except loss.
35:40
O Prophet, say: “Have you ever considered your associate gods to whom you call upon besides Allah? Show me anything that they have created in the earth! Or what is their share in the creation of the heavens? Or have We given them a Book from which they derive a provision of shirk? Nay, in fact the wrongdoers promise each other nothing but delusions.
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
delusion: illusion, misconception, misunderstanding, mistake, error.
35:41
Verily! Allah grasps the heavens and the earth lest they move away from their places, and if they were to move away from their places, there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Truly, He is Ever Most Forbearing, OftForgiving.
Meaning:-
Forbearing: patient, tolerant, lenient, forgiving, understanding.
35:42
And they swore by Allah their most binding oath, that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than any of the nations (before them), yet when a warner (Muhammad) came to them, it increased in them nothing but flight (from the truth),
35:43
behaving arrogantly in the land and plotting evil, whereas the plotting of evil recoils none but the authors of it. Are they awaiting for that end which overtook the former nations? If so, you shall find no change in the ways of Allah, nor will you find any alteration in Allah’s way of dealing.
Meaning:-
Recoils: suddenly spring or flinch back in fear, horror, or disgust, Jump back, pull back;
35:44
Have they not traveled through the land and see what was the end of those who went before them, who were far superior in strength than these people? There is nothing in the heavens or in the earth which can frustrate Allah; surely He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
35:45
If Allah were to punish people ˹immediately˺ for what they have committed, He would not have left a single living being on earth. But He delays them for an appointed term. And when their time arrives, then surely Allah is All-Seeing of His servants
34:1
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. His is all the praises and thanks in the Hereafter, and He is the AllWise, the AllAware.
34:2
He has the knowledge of all that goes into the earth and that which comes out of it; and all that comes down from heaven and that ascends to it. He is the Merciful, the Forgiving.
Meaning:-
Ascends: go up/upward,
34:3
Those who disbelieve say: “The Hour will not come to us.” Say: “Yes, by my Lord, it will come to you.” (Allah, He is) the AllKnower of the unseen, not even the weight of an atom (or a small ant) or less than that or greater, escapes from His Knowledge in the heavens or in the earth, but it is in a Clear Book (AlLauh AlMahfuz).
Meaning:-
“Allauh al mahfuz” mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan (85:22)? … in al-Lawh al-Mahfooz (the Preserved Tablet)”
34:4
The Hour is going to come and the Day of Judgement shall be established, to reward those who have believed and done good deeds; it is them for whom there is forgiveness and an honorable sustenance.”
Meaning:-
Sustenance: food and drink regarded as a source of strength; nourishment.
34:4

But those who strive against Our verses [seeking] to cause failure – for them will be a painful punishment of foul nature.

Foul: wicked or immoral.
34:6
Those to whom knowledge has been given can see that the revelations send down to you from your Lord are the Truth and it guides to the Way of the Almighty, the Praise Worthy.
34:7
The unbelievers say to the people: “Shall we point out to you a man who claims that when your body will disintegrate and mangle into dust you shall be raised to life again?
Meaning:-
Disintegrate: break up into small parts, typically as the result of impact or decay.
Mangle: severely mutilate, disfigure, or damage by cutting, tearing, or crushing.
34:8
Has he invented about Allah a lie or is there in him madness?” Rather, they who do not believe in the Hereafter will be in the punishment and [are in] extreme error.
34:9
See they not what is before them and behind them, of the sky and the earth? If We wished, We could cause the earth to swallow them up, or cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them. Verily in this is a Sign for every devotee that turns to Allah (in repentance).
Meaning:-
Devotee: a strong believer in a particular religion or god.
34:10
And certainly We gave to Dawood excellence from Us: O mountains! sing praises with him, and the birds; and We made the iron pliant to him,
Meaning:-
Pliant: bending readily; flexible; supple; adaptable:
34:11
saying: “make coats of armor measuring out the links in mail and O people of Dawood, do good deeds; surely I am watching over all of your actions.”
Meaning:-
Armor: the metal coverings formerly worn by soldiers or warriors to protect the body in battle.
34:12
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind – its morning [journey was that of] a month – and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command – We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze.
Meaning:-
Blaze: a very large or fiercely burning fire.
34:13
They worked for him as he desired: making arches, images, basins as large as reservoirs and built-in cooking cauldrons. We said: “O Family of Dawood! Work gratefully.” Only a few of My devotees are truly grateful.
Meaning:-
Cauldron: a large metal pot with a lid and handle, used for cooking over an open fire.
34:14
And when We decreed for Solomon death, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff. But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment.
34:15
For the people of Saba (Sheba, presently a town in Yeman) there was indeed a sign in their dwelling place: two gardens – one to the right and one to the left. It was said to them: “Eat of what your Lord has given you and render thanks to Him. Pleasant is your land and forgiving is your Lord.”
Meaning:-
Dwelling: a house, or other place of residence.
34:16
But they gave no heed. So We let loose upon them the waters of the dam (called Ma’arib) and We converted their two gardens into the gardens producing bitter fruit, tamarisks and a few lot bushes.
Meaning:-
Tamarisk: an Old World shrub or small tree with tiny scalelike leaves borne on slender branches, giving it a feathery appearance.
34:17
That was the Requital We gave them because they ungratefully rejected Faith: and never do We give (such) requital except to such as are ungrateful rejecters.
Meaning:-
Requital: something given in return, compensation, or retaliation.
34:18
Between them and the towns which We had blessed (Syria and Palestine), We placed other towns in prominent positions so that they could journey to and fro in measured stages. We said: “Travel through them by day and night in complete security.”
34:19
But [insolently] they said, “Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys,” and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.
34:20
In their case, Iblees’ (Satan’s) suspicions proved true, as they all followed him except a small group of the believers,
34:21
even though he had no authority over them. It all happened because We wanted to see who among them believed in the hereafter and who is in doubt concerning it. Your Lord is watching over all things.
34:22
Say, [O Muhammad], “Invoke those you claim [as deities] besides Allah .” They do not possess an atom’s weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them any assistant.
Meaning:-
Deity: God; Supreme Being, like a god or goddess, Fake God.
34:23
And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts, they will say [to one another], “What has your Lord said?” They will say, “The truth.” And He is the Most High, the Grand.
Meaning:-
Intercession: the action of intervening on behalf of another.
34:24
Say, “Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?” Say, ” Allah . And indeed, we or you are either upon guidance or in clear error.”
34:25
Say (O Muhammad to these polytheists, pagans, etc.) “You will not be asked about our sins, nor shall we be asked of what you do.”
Meaning:-
Polytheist: belief in more than one god or in many gods.
Pagan:a person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions.
34:26
Say: “Our Lord will assemble us all together (on the Day of Resurrection), then He will judge between us with truth. And He is the (Most Trustworthy) AllKnowing Judge.”
34:27
Say: “Show me those whom you have made associate gods with Him. Nay! By no means can you do it. Allah Alone is the Almighty, the Wise”.
34:28
O Prophet, We have sent you to the entire mankind, to give them good news and forewarn them, but most people do not know.
Meaning:-
Forewarn: warn, warn in advance, give advance warning, give fair warning,
34:29
They ask you: “When will this promise of resurrection be fulfilled, if you are telling the truth?”
34:30
Tell them: “For you the appointment of a day is fixed, which you can neither postpone for a moment nor bring it early.”
34:31
The disbelievers say: “We shall never believe in this Qur’an, nor in the scriptures which came before it.” If you could only see when these wrongdoers will be made to stand before their Lord, tossing accusing words on one another! Those who had been despised as weaklings will say to the arrogant: “If it were not for you, we would certainly have been believers.”
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
Despise: to regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain
Arrogant: a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
34:32
The arrogant will say to those despised weaklings: “Did we block you off from guidance when it came to you? Nay! Rather you yourselves were guilty.”
Meaning:-
Arrogant: a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
Despise: to regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain
34:33
Those despised weaklings will say to the arrogant: “No! It was you who plotted day and night, bidding us to disbelieve in Allah and to set up equals with Him,” – They will feel ashamed once they see the punishment, and We shall put yokes on the necks of those disbelievers; can there be any other reward except for what they did?
Meaning:-
Despise: to regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain
Arrogant: a sense of superiority, self-importance, having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities.
Yoke: a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull.
34:34
Whenever We have sent a Warner to a town, its wealthy residents have said: “We surely disbelieve in what you are sent with”.
34:35
They say: “We have more wealth and children, which indicates that our gods are happy with us so we shall never be punished.”
34:36
Say, “Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it], but most of the people do not know.”
34:37
And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, but it is [by being] one who has believed and done righteousness. For them there will be the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the upper chambers [of Paradise], safe [and secure].
34:38
And the ones who strive against Our verses to cause [them] failure – those will be brought into the punishment [to remain].
34:39
Say, “Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] – He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers.”
34:40
And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, “Did these [people] used to worship you?”
34:41
They will respond: “Glory be to You! Our tie is with You – as a protector – not with them; but they used to worship the jinns and it was them in whom most of these people believed.”
34:42
On that Day you will be helpless to profit or harm one another. To the wrongdoers We shall say: “Taste the punishment of the fire which you persistently denied.”
Meaning:-
Wrongdoer: a person who behaves illegally or dishonestly; an offender.
Persistent: constant, continuous, continuing, continual, nonstop, never-ending,
34:43
Today when Our clear Verses are recited to them, they say: “This man only wants to turn you away from those gods to whom your forefathers have been worshipping.” Others say: “This Qur’an is nothing but an invented falsehood.” While yet others, who deny the truth when it comes to them, say: “This is nothing but plain magic.”
34:44
And We have not given them any books which they read, nor did We send to them before you a warner.
34:45
And those before them rejected (the truth), and these have not yet attained a tenth (1/10th) of what We gave them, but they gave the lie to My messengers, then how was the manifestation of My disapproval?
Meaning:-
Manifestation: sign, indication, evidence, proof.
34:46
O Prophet say: “I would ask you one thing. For Allah’s sake! Think individually or consult one another and ponder whether your companion Muhammad is really mad? You yourself will come to the conclusion that he is nothing but a Warner to you to forewarn you of a sever punishment.”
Meaning:-
Forewarn: warn, warn in advance, give advance warning, give fair warning,
34:47
Say: “No reward do I ask of you: it is (all) in your interest: my reward is only due from Allah: And He is witness to all things.”
34:48
Say, “Indeed, my Lord projects the truth. Knower of the unseen.”
34:49
Say: “The Truth has arrived, and Falsehood neither creates anything new, nor restores anything.”
34:50
Say, “If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near.”
34:51
If you could only see the disbelievers on the Day of Judgement when they will be in a state of confusion! On that Day there will be no escape; and they will be seized from a nearby place.
34:52
And they will say (in the Hereafter): “We do believe (now);” but how could they receive (Faith and the acceptance of their repentance by Allah) from a place so far off (i.e. to return to the worldly life again).
34:53
They had disbelieved in it before – and they had sneered at the unseen when they were far away during their life on earth?
Meaning:-
Sneer: speak in a contemptuous or mocking manner.
34:54
A barrier will be placed between them and what they desired to have as was done with the similar people before them; for they were indeed involved in a misleading suspicion.
33:1
O Prophet (Muhammad)! Keep your duty to Allah, and obey not the disbelievers and the hypocrites (i.e., do not follow their advices). Verily! Allah is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.
Meaning:-
Hypocrite:a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs,principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess.
33:2
Follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord: for Allah is aware of what you do.
33:3
Put your trust in Allah: for Allah is your all-sufficient protector.
33:4
Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his body. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the [right] way.
33:5
Name your adopted sons after their fathers; that is more just in the sight of Allah, and if you don’t know who their fathers are, then call them as your brothers in faith and your friends. There is no blame on you for an unintentional mistake, but you will be held responsible for what you do with the intention of your hearts; Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
33:6
The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves and his wives are as their (believers’) mothers. Blood relatives have a greater claim on one another than the other believers and the Muhajirin (early Muslims who migrated from Makkah to Madinah) according to the Book of Allah: although you are permitted to some good (through leaving bequests) for your friends . This has been written in the Book of Allah.
Meaning:-
bequest: legacy, inheritance, endowment, settlement
33:7
O Muhammad, remember the Covenant which We took from all the Prophets – from you as well as from Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa and Isa (Jesus) son of Maryam – We took that solemn Covenant from all of them,
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee.
33:8
so that He may question the truthful concerning the Truth (that they were entrusted with): as for the unbelievers, He has prepared a painful punishment.
33:9
O believers! Remember the favor of Allah, which he bestowed on you, when you were attacked by your enemy’s army (during the battle of Trench/Confederates) and We unleashed against them violent winds and invisible forces. Allah saw all that you were doing.
Meaning:-
Bestowed: to present as a gift, an honor
The Battle of the Trench: also known as the Battle of the Confederates. (January/February 627 A.D.) was a 27-day long siege of Yathrib (now Medina) by Arab and Jewish tribes. Failure of siege; Decisive Muslim victory led by prophet Muhammad.
Confederate: united in a league, alliance, or conspiracy. a person, group, nation, etc.,
33:10
When the enemy attacked you from above and from below; when your eyes were petrified due to fear and your hearts leaped up to your throats, and you began to entertain all sorts of doubts about Allah,
Meaning:-
Petrified: so frightened that one is unable to move; terrified.
33:11
there, the believers were put to test; and were shaken with tremendous shaking.
Meaning:-
Tremendous: very great in amount, scale, or intensity.

Remember, when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts there was a disease were openly saying: “Allah and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusion!”

Delusion: illusion, misconception, misunderstanding, mistake, misbelief, error.
33:13
And a party of them said: “O people of Yathrib (Madinah)! You cannot stand the attack much longer. Go back to your city”. And yet another party of them sought leave of the Prophet saying: “In fact our houses are insecure,” whereas they were not insecure. They intended nothing but to run away from the battlefront.
33:13

And if the enemy had entered from all sides (of the city), and they had been exhorted to AlFitnah (i.e. to renegade from Islam to polytheism) they would surely have committed it and would have hesitated thereupon but little.
Meaning:-
Exhorted: strongly encourage or urge (someone) to do something.
AlFitnah: ( Al-Fitnah is worse than killing.) means, trying to force the Muslims to revert from their religion and re-embrace Kufr after they had believed, is worse with Allah than killing.
33:15
And they had already promised Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And ever is the promise to Allah [that about which one will be] questioned.
33:16
Say, [O Muhammad], “Never will fleeing benefit you if you should flee from death or killing; and then [if you did], you would not be given enjoyment [of life] except for a little.”
33:17
Ask them: “Who can protect you from Allah if He intends to harm you or who can prevent Him if He intends to show you mercy?” They will find none besides Allah to protect or help them.
33:18
Allah already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allah’s Cause, and those who say to their brethren “Come here towards us,” while they (themselves) come not to the battle except a little.
33:19
Indisposed toward you. And when fear comes, you see them looking at you, their eyes revolving like one being overcome by death. But when fear departs, they lash you with sharp tongues, indisposed toward [any] good. Those have not believed, so Allah has rendered their deeds worthless, and ever is that, for Allah , easy.
Meaning:-
Indisposed: ill, unwell, sick, to put out of the proper condition for something; make unfit.
33:20
They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little.
Meaning:-
Confederates: Confederates: united in a league, alliance, or conspiracy. a person, group, nation, etc.,
Bedouin: an Arab of the desert.
Midst: in the middle of, course of action, etc.
33:21
Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.
33:22
And when the believers saw the companies, they said, “This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth.” And it increased them only in faith and acceptance.
33:23
Among the believers there are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah: of them some have completed their vow through sacrificing their lives, and some others are waiting for it, and have not changed their determination in the least.
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee, pledge, promise.
33:24
That Allah may reward the truthful for their truth and punish the hypocrites if He wills or accept their repentance. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.

33:25
Allah turned back the unbelievers; they retreated in their rage without gaining any advantage, and Allah was sufficient to fight on behalf of the believers; for Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty.
Meaning:-
Rage: violent, uncontrollable anger.
33:26
And brought down, from their fortresses, those people of the Book (The Jews of Bani Qurayzah) who supported the invaders, and cast terror into their hearts. As a result, some of them you slew and some you took as prisoners.
Meaning:-
Fortress: any place of exceptional security; stronghold.
Invader: a person or group that invades a country, region, or other place.
Slew: to kill by violence. to destroy; extinguish.
33:27
Thus He made you heirs of their lands, their houses and their goods, and also the land (Khayber) on which you had never set your foot before. Truly, Allah has power over all things.
33:28
O Prophet (Muhammad)! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world, and its glitter, Then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free in a handsome manner (divorce).
Meaning:-
Glitter: shine with a bright.
33:29
But if you seek Allah and His messenger and the home of the hereafter, then you should rest assured that Allah has prepared a great reward for those of you who are good.
33:30
O wives of the Prophet! Whoever of you commits an open illegal sexual intercourse, the torment for her will be doubled, and that is ever easy for Allah.
Meaning:-
Torment: severe physical or mental suffering, torture, pain.
33:31
Those of you (O wives of the Prophet Muhammad) who obey Allah and His Messenger and practice righteousness, shall be granted double reward, and for them We have prepared a generous provision.
33:32
O wives of the Prophet! You are not like the other women: if you fear Allah, then you should not be complaisant while talking to the men who are not closely related to you, lest the one in whose heart is a disease may thereby be encouraged, and speak using suitable good words.
Meaning:-
Complaisant: willing to please others; obliging; agreeable.
33:33
Stay in your homes and do not display your finery as women used to do in the days of ignorance (pre-Islamic days); establish Salah, pay Zakah, and obey Allah and His Rasool. O women of the household of Messenger, Allah only intends to remove uncleanliness from you and to purify you completely.
Meaning:-
Finery: fine or showy dress, ornaments, etc.
33:34
And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom. Indeed, Allah is ever Subtle and Acquainted [with all things].
Meaning:-
Subtle: fine or delicate in meaning or intent; difficult to perceive or understand:
Acquaint: familiar with.
33:35
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
33:36
It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.

O Prophet, remember when you said to the one (Zaid, Prophet’s adopted son) whom Allah as well as you had favored: “Keep your wife in wedlock and fear Allah”. You sought to hide in your heart what Allah intended to reveal; you were afraid of the people whereas it would have been more appropriate to fear Allah. So when Zaid divorced his wife, We gave her to you in marriage, so that there remains no hindrance for the believers to wed the wives of their adopted sons if they divorced them. And Allah’s Command had to be carried out.
Meaning:-
Hindrance: a person or thing that makes a situation difficult.
33:38
There is no blame on the Prophet (SAW) in that which Allah has made legal for him.That has been Allah’s Way with those who have passed away of (the Prophets of) old. And the Command of Allah is a decree determined.
Meaning:-
Decree: order, command.
33:39
[ Allah praises] those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah . And sufficient is Allah as Accountant.
33:40
Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever AllAware of everything.
33:41
O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance
33:42
And glorify His Praises morning and afternoon [the early morning (Fajr) and ‘Asr prayers].
33:43
He it is Who sends blessings on you, as do His angels, that He may bring you out from the depths of Darkness into Light: and He is Full of Mercy to the Believers.
33:44
Their greeting the Day they meet Him will be, “Peace.” And He has prepared for them a noble reward.
33:45
O Prophet! Surely We have sent you as a witness, as a bearer of good news and as a Warner,
33:46
and to call the people towards Allah by His leave and a lamp spreading light (guidance).
33:47
Give good news to the believers that they shall have great blessings from Allah.
33:48
And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites but do not harm them, and rely upon Allah . and Allah is sufficient as a Protector.

O You who have believed, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning them. So provide for them and give them a gracious release.

O Prophet! We have made lawful to you the wives to whom you have given their dowers; and those ladies whom your right hands possess (from the prisoners of war) whom Allah has assigned to you; and the daughters of your paternal uncles and aunts, and the daughters of your maternal uncles and aunts, who have migrated with you; and the believing woman who gave herself to the Prophet if the Prophet desires to marry her – this permission is only for you and not for the other believers; We know what restrictions We have imposed on the other believers concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess. We have granted you this privilege as an exception so that no blame may be attached to you. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

33:51
You may put off any of your wives you please and take to your bed any of them you please, and there is no blame on you if you call back any of them you had temporarily set aside. This is most proper, so that their eyes may be cooled and they may not grieve, and that they will remain satisfied with what you give them. O believers! Allah knows all that is in your hearts; for Allah is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing.
Meaning:-
Forbearing: patient, tolerant, lenient, forgiving, understanding,
33:52
It shall be unlawful for you, O Muhammad, to marry more women after this or to change your present wives with other women, though their beauty may be pleasing to you, however those ladies whom your right hand possess are an exception. Allah takes cognizance of all things.
Meaning:-
Cognizance: knowledge, awareness, or notice.
33:53
O believers! Do not enter the houses of the Prophet without permission, nor stay waiting for meal time: but if you are invited to a meal, enter, and when you have eaten disperse and do not seek long conversation. Such behavior annoys the Prophet, he feels shy in asking you to leave, but Allah does not feel shy in telling the truth. If you have to ask his wives for anything, speak to them from behind a curtain. This is more chaste for your hearts and for theirs. It is not proper for you to annoy the Messenger of Allah, nor ever to marry his wives after him; this would be a grievous offence in the sight of Allah.
Meaning:-
Disperse: move apart in different directions without order or regularity; become scattered:
annoy: irritate (someone); make (someone) a little angry.
Chaste: without unnecessary ornamentation; simple or restrained.
33:54
Whether you reveal anything or conceal it, surely Allah has full knowledge of all things.
Meaning:-
Conceal: to hide, to keep secret, to prevent or avoid disclosing, keep secret.
33:55
It is no sin on them (the Prophet’s wives, if they appear unveiled) before their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their brother’s sons, or the sons of their sisters, or their own (believing) women, or their (female) slaves, and keep your duty to Allah. Verily, Allah is Ever AllWitness over everything.
33:56
Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O believers, call for Allah’s blessings on him and salute him with all respect.
33:57
Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger – Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and prepared for them a humiliating punishment.
33:58
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin.
Meaning:-
Slander: the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation.
Manifest: to make clear or obvious to the eye or mind or the understanding; show plainly
33:59
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
33:60
If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for adultery, etc.), and those who spread false news among the people in AlMadinah, cease not, We shall certainly let you overpower them, then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbours but a little while.
Meaning:-

33:61
They shall be cursed wherever they are found and they shall be seized and killed mercilessly.

mercilessly: without pity; in a merciless manner;
33:62
This has been the Way of Allah regarding such people among those who lived before you, and you will never find any change in the Way of Allah.
33:63
People ask you about the Hour of Doom. Tell them: “Allah Alone has the knowledge of it. Who knows? It may be that the Hour is near at hand.”
Meaning:-
Doom: death, destruction, or some other terrible fate.
33:64
Surely Allah has laid a curse on the unbelievers and has prepared for them a blazing fire;

Blazing: burn fiercely or brightly.
33:65
to live therein forever and they shall find no protector or helper.
33:66
The Day their faces will be turned about in the Fire, they will say, “How we wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger.”

They will further say: “Our lord! We obeyed our chiefs and our great ones and they misled us from the Right Way.

Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a great curse.”

O you who have believed, be not like those who abused Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And he, in the sight of Allah , was distinguished.
Meaning:-
Distinguished: successful, authoritative, and commanding great respect.
33:70
O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth.
33:71
He will bless your works and forgive your sins – for he that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed achieved the highest achievement.
33:72
The fact is that We offered the Trust (“freedom of choice” and to voluntarily use this option according to the will of Allah) to the heavens, to the earth and to the mountains, but they refused to undertake it and were afraid, but man undertook it. He was indeed unjust (to himself) and foolish.
33:73
[It was] so that Allah may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the men and women who associate others with Him and that Allah may accept repentance from the believing men and believing women. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

16:91
Honour Allah’s covenant when you make a pledged, and do not break your oaths after confirming them, having made Allah your guarantor. Surely Allah knows all you do.

pledge: promise, undertaking, vow, word, word of honor, commitment.
16:92
Do not behave like that woman who had spun her yarn strongly – [be not like this by] using your oaths as a means of deceiving one another, simply because some of you may be more powerful than others. By all this, Allah but puts you to a test – and [He does it] so that on the Day of Judgment He will certainly reveal to you the truth about which you differed.
Meaning:-
spins her yarn: If you say that someone spins a yarn, you mean that they tell a story that is not true, often an interesting or imaginative one.
Spun: Spun is having twisted.
Yarn: tell a long or implausible story.
16:93
And if Allah had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
Stray: move idly or casually in a specified direction.
16:94
O believers! Do not take oaths to deceive each other, lest your foot slip after being firmly fixed upon guidance; and you will taste the evil consequences for hindering others from the Way of Allah and you will suffer a tremendous punishment.
Meaning:-
consequences: result or effect of something.
Hindering: to prevent from doing, to block or put something in the way of, stop someone.
Tremendous: really awful and terrible, extraordinarily great in size.
16:95
Do not sell the covenant of Allah for a petty price. Certainly Allah’s reward is far better than all your gain, if you but knew it.
Meaning:-
Covenant: contract, agreement, undertaking, commitment, guarantee, pledge, promise.
16:96
What is with you comes to an end, and whatever with Allah (of good deeds) will remain. And those who are patient, We will certainly pay them a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do.
Meaning:-
proportion: a part, share.
16:97
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
16:98
When you recite The Qur’an, seek Allah’s protection from the accursed Shaitan,
Meaning:-
Accursed: under a curse, used to express strong dislike of or anger toward someone or something
16:99
Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah).
